Reality Test App for Android

Hi All,

My name is Mark Adamson, and I've just released a free reality test app for Android phones. Anyone who has an Android phone, please check it out (search for Reality Test Lite on the app market), and let me know what you think.

How it works

There are currently 3 types of test in the app:

Math Test: Add together two small numbers.
Word Test: look at 3 words and pick out the noun, verb or adjective.
Clock Test: look at a digital readout of the time, then copy it out.

From the main menu, you can either pick which test you want to take, or else choose to take a random test. If you answer the test correctly the app tells you you're probably awake, otherwise it tells you you might be dreaming. But the general idea is that rather than just take the app's word for it, you would inspect the phone carefully throughout the whole process of using the app, and if anything seems out of the ordinary, perform further traditional reality tests of your own.

Planned Improvements

More test types

Including ones that make use of the phone's cameras, showing you a live view of what they are capturing (either your face, or the view ahead) and asking you if it tallies with what you expect.

Notifications

Prompting you randomly during the day to perform a reality test, so that you don't have to think of it yourself. Obviously you would be able to choose the rough times of day, and approximate frequency of tests.

Issues I'm aware of

The input for the clock test is a little cumbersome (although you can omit the colon).
There is some ambiguity in the word test - some words are both noun and verb.

Feedback

I would love to hear back on your thoughts and experiences with this app. In particular I am interested in hearing about:

Any problems using the app. Does it Force Close? Does everything fit on the screen OK?
Any suggestions for improvements, or features you'd like to see.
Any suggestions for different test types.

this sounds very cool and would be neat to have notifications.

Doesn't work on Droid X (runing FlyX/leaked 2.2). It loads, then force stops.

If you are interested, I am learning Android programming, and we can make this a huge LD tool - sleep alarm (maybe even utilize those biorhythm clock programming from the acceleramator), a notepad for dream journal, your tests, and maybe facebook integration because that's the rage.

Thanks for finally making this though. I told a friend that wanted to do it all, that if he made a LD app for Droid he'd have a nice market. He didn't listen.

great idea guys. the new google apps bit should make programming for android easy, but i havent had time to play with it yet.

this thread is about android apps that are useful for Lders, and this post is my summary of several separate tools i use on my droid, if someone were to combine them, it would be an unstoppable force of android LD appness!:

My 2c
Add a reality check function: for example sth. that emits a subtle beep every hour (with a nigth-mode with no sound if prefered) to remind you to do a check.

The app now runs on my FlyX-run Droid X. These tests are great, so I will make sure to keep it nearby.

Add a few more things to the app, and I'd pay.

I am also in the App Inventor program. I am going to make a CAN-WILD app. Are there anythings that people want added? I have a cursory knowledge of CAN-WILD, but I'll do a lot of research to make sure it works. Stage 1 of this will simply play the tone. For stage 2, I want to have a biorhythmic alarm clock so you can be awaken at the start of the REM cycle.

Anyone interested in being guiana pigs? I have a Rooted Droid X running RubiX, so I could use a legit Droid X running FroYo, and any other Droid forums. Gonna take this thread over since the OP seems to have been an adbot.
