      lucid after stopping melatonin

So last nighti didn't take a melatonin pill and i couldn't get to sleep for the life of me... i was very tired but still couldn't sleep. while trying i kept going in and out of SP untill finally i fell tosleep only to wake up about 3 hours later. when i woke up i got something to drink and tried to go back to sleep but again could not go to sleep. i was getting kind of frustrated at this point considering i had class in the morning. after a while of trying to sleep i realised i was dreaming about trying to go to sleep. i found this out by moving into a more comfy posision and i didn't feel the move. i looked at my hands and rubbed them together and they stretched out. it was very wierd because i didn't notice the transision i couldn't sleep because i was already asleep or what? anyway,i tried to get out of bed whilei was still lucid and for the life of me could not. every time i tried to move out of bed i'd get all tanged up in my body and in my bed. then i woke up fivve minutes before my alarm went off. so, i guess my question is after becoming pretty much addicted to the melatonin pills and stopping, not getting much sleep, could this potentially be a technique for lucid dreaming?
Dripping time into a seed that grows into the world and sprouts a fruit that ripens into humans. They stretch up into the sky looking for purpose, wandering when and if their time has come. Realizing the potential they have, they select their paths which weave in and out to make the good and the bad, the pure and the corrupt...

I absolutely think lack of sleep can contribute to lucid dreaming. I've only had one LD, yesterday as a matter of fact, and I believe sleep deprivation, and possibly caffeine, played a key role.

It doesn't work like that for me. If I go to bed later than usual, I have crappy recall and no LDs. However, if I go to bed at a decent time I will probably have a lucid and some dream recall.

Lack of sleep causes you to be sleepier throughout the night, so you can't concentrate on LDs when you wake up in the middle of the night. The only possible exception is if you set an alarm clock.

how many mg's a night were you taking? Ive personally always known that once I pop a melatonin, my dreams will be nuts. I never take more than 1mg per night either, my gf needs at least 3mg's to feel anything, guess im lucky.

Careful with sleep deprivation -- it can lead to diabetes and a host of other problems. It's deadly.

I had a lucid dream not too long ago after not being able to sleep until 4:00am. I also look 400mg of valerian, 50mg of vitamin b-6 and 1mg of melatonin that night. I don't know if either led to the lucid dream, of if my mind was just naturally awake and that was why I couldn't sleep but remained conscious while dreaming.
