      B-6 Questions

I accidentally got time released B6 vitamins (spring valley, 200 mg, timed release) and was wondering if it were possible to get them to dissolve in your mouth instead of timed?

Also is it better taken before bed, or during WBTB?

I would not advise taking that regularly. Although B-6 is water soluble, nonetheless, a regular intake of such a high dose could lead to serious imbalances as well as nerve damage. However, it would not be harmful to take it once every three days (you may be able to take it every two days for a week but then you should ease off for the next week). Also, if you were to use 100mg IR pills you would be safe taking it every other day (as with the XR, you can do once a day for a week, but then I would recommend easing off the following). If you are going to use time-released I would take the pill about 4 hours prior to falling asleep and would not try to dissolve it in your mouth. Good luck to you. If you have questions or need clarification, don't hesitate to ask.

Hack it in half and dissolve. Should not be harmful. 200mg is more then ideal, 100mg is a little high for LD purposes but if taking 100mg/day you shouldn't see any nerve damage. I usually suggest 50mg twice a day, but you could just hack it and swallow the 100mg XR.

I have experimented with dosages from 5mg/day to 1500mg a day of B6, and I would not suggest anyone take over 200mg due to the very annoying side effects. You will feel like a zombie the next morning with high dosage and for very high the hands start to go numb.

It should be noted that all studies point to the nerve damage being temporary and only in high dosage runs.
      Just keep moving…

Is that supposed to be comforting? I prefer zero nerve damage, personally, regardless of whether it is "reversible" or not. Just be smart and don't take over 50-100mg in one day. 100mg/day is the upper limit, which means really, you should not even be taking that much. I'm quite surprised they are still allowing the sale of such high dosages of B6, when it has been linked to neurotoxicity at higher dosages, and even at some lower dosages around the upper tolerable limit.

Take it before bed. Also you should take all the B vitamins together, otherwise you're just going to cause more trouble for your body in the end. Get something that says vitamin B complex, because they really need each other to work together properly in the body.

      I love these things: Emergen-C...and you get 7 of the B Vitamins too (niacin(B3), riboflavin(B2), pyridoxine(B6), folic acid(B9), thiamine(B1), cobalamin(B12), pantothenic acid(B5))...pretty small dosages, but I eat like 2-4 packets a day. Even still, that's only 40mg of B6, which is plenty!!

If you want to trust in Wiki and what the studies have shown, then there are no lasting side-effects at all after getting nerve damage and then quitting. Your nerves will be fine, and I don't think taking 150-200 mg once a week will be harmful at all. The studies were done over months and used doses of like 500 mg or more.

I do want to look into the complex supplements. As both B-5 and B-12 is said to be good for dreaming. Does the body build up any tolerance to them? Only want to take them for dreaming purposes.

...I kinda been taking at least one every night...
The first night I took two and gave me a lot of dreams, then since that I haven't had many, so I tried using B6 and B12 last night and it made my recall better.

If there are no permanent damages, and any damages usually take a few months to start, what's wrong with taking one a day until I have good enough recall not to need it?

If I start feeling anything wrong all I got to do is stop, right, no harm done?

If I am not mistaken, your body will build up a tolerance to that and like previous people have said, there's a slight chance of getting nerve damage. Do it two or three times tops a week. You can't up your recall by taking vitamins like that. You need to improve it on your own. I took B6 for too many nights and it lost its effect VERY quickly. If you only take it every once and a while, you will still get the full effects of it.
