      Wink Newbie... introducing Project Angie

      Hi ,
As you can notice, I am noob here, so let me introduce myself. I live in Mexico, I am Engineer and my English is not as good as I would like, anyway the first time I heard about lucid dreaming was when I watched Inception ,you know, so I started my own way on lucid dreaming and I did spend a lot of time reading about LD and I wanted a Nova-dreamer of course! so I went to buy one online but the price was a nite mare! then I decided to design my very own device. I called it PROJECT ANGIE.

So basically I wanted an inexpensive device with no programming involved, using only a few general purpose electronic components so I started to work on it by nite only.

Finally I have some results. so I come with some pictures and a demo video but I am not sure if I can paste them here so I guess I will ask to the administrator at first.
So let me know if you are interested or tell me if I can post pictures and videos here.

P.D. the name "ANGIE" comes from Angelina Jolie" since I always wanted to induce her presence in my dreams. (I still want)

This sounds great but I suppose you must need a little programming. You must know when the person is in his REM-sleep if you want it full effective but actually it must working. I suppose you using the guide from Cre.ations.net ?

      Thanks for reply!

No programming needed since the device is based on operational amplifiers only, so basically the whole thing is made around only one integrated circuit : ka358 this chip has two internal operational amplifiers, so what I used the first one to condition the IR signal and the second one to configure a timer ,triggered by the first one. btw Do you know if I can post a video here? still in beta version so I think this is only the beginning cos we can ad more electronics or we can just use the very first stage(without timer) to keep things easy.

I tried to post the video and pics but it says I must to wait at least seven days in order to do so
Anyway ,I will work on the device in the meanwhile, trying to get rid of even more components in order to simplify the whole thing and made it even more cheap and easy to build.
I will share all the info as soon as possible . Any comment or idea is always welcome.

      have a good dream!

nice video , cheap as hell but how do you suppose you turn the lights on if you are sleeping already?

Well I still cannot post my pic

the best to use this dream mask is performing the WBTB

yesterday i use the home made dream mask after a WBTB and i couldnt sleep!! the flaw of this mask is because don have a TIMER i mean this device start flashing at the moment that you press on

too much brightness of course and no way to detect rem sleep. Anyway I think that I can post some pics finally ( I had to wait 7 days to do so sorry guys not my fault I hope this code work well

      the Protoboard:

      the Diagram:

      the video:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOtQd...yer_detailpage

I am working in the pcb rite now , I wanted to use only surface mounted devices (smd) so I am quite slow ,it supposed to be as small as i can handle in order to mount the pcb in a mask not in sunglasses( they where only to hold the stuff while I was testing it. the video is shaky and dark cos I wanted to show the two leds. more videos soon I guess.

so about the diagrams, both of them, v2.1 and v2.2 are working but the last one use less components so I am working with v2.2 from now on.It has only 15 cheap components ,basically you have two stages, the first one makes blink a led lets say "in real time" you move your eye you got one blink,3 movements 3 blinks. the second stage is triggered by the first one and start a TIMER ,the second led stay on for a predetermined time, this is made using analog components (one resistor and one capacitor) and no using programming code at all.
So the advantage of using this configuration is that you can use only the first led if you think that fast fhasing work good for you (additionally you can ge rid even more components) or you can use the second one if you want a predetermined time of light. Besides, if you know about electronics, you can use the device just as an input to another device ,lest say a laptop or phone, since both outputs can be considered digital outputs.

So I think I have a lot of work here, I still need to make a pcb, a mask and I have some ideas like adding a push button just to to turn on and off any of the leds in order to do rapid reality checks, and a normally closed swith to stay pressing it ,this would be able to power on the device just when we start to sleep, something like Lucid Scribe do with the mouse.

So you guys let me know what do you think, any idea is welcome!

well this a preview of the dream machine,I am playing with the shape of the board rite now so I guess I need to try many configurations in order to find a good solution about where to put leds and sensors, the white leds is infrared and the flat dark thing is the photo transistor, ho ! the big cylindrical thing is a sensitivity knob control, it will be folded against the board

      Hi, this is me again,

still working in the design part. Boring stuff. I cannot wait to wear them!

some pics and previews, I am trying to put the whole thing inside a cheap swimming glasses.

I go quite slow cos I am working on it in my spare time
