      Bird song method

      Hi Guys
I just thought I would share a method I have been using quite successfully to
become lucid for a couple of weeks now.
I started off by downloading a video called 15 minutes of silence from Youtube, I
then added to this a short burst of bird song lasting about 5 seconds.
Every time I am on my computer during the day which is quite a lot I have this
playing on a loop as soon as I hear the short burst of bird song I check if I am
      dreaming or not.
I have downloaded this program to my mp3 player which I keep beside my bed
after about 3 hours of sleep I then set this to play on loop throughout the rest
      of the night.
The result of this is that several times over the past two weeks I have heard a
sudden short burst of bird song during a normal dream I then became lucid, last night
for example I was standing in a local pub garden with two friends when suddenly
the bird song sounded and again I became lucid.
Just thought I would add that in the past I have tried doing this with music but
      the results were poor.

      this is a great idea.
i had a similar idea, i wanted to choose a song that i would RC every time i hear it. and randomly play it on my phone to make the habbit. as well as using self hypnosis and auto suggestion to help. and then fall asleep to the song on repeat.
but i never ended up trying it.
but from what you said it seems like your idea would work better.
      i will try this soon

Thanks for your reply and good luck with this.
Just though I would add I purchased Nova Dreamer many years back for $400 and
after countless nights of using it in various settings my results have not been half
as good as the above method in the last two weeks alone.

That's a really good idea. It's interesting how it seems to work better with a natural sound such as birdsong than it does with music. Perhaps it sits better with the mind to create a sound that does not go against existing schemas?

      no problem,
do you have the sound file on loop on your computer all day or have it start when you come to the computer?
and what program do youj use on your phone to make the sound play after 3 hours?

      Hi Qwer
I only have it start when I come to my computer which I will possibly go
on 3 or 4 times during the course of the day.
And at night I have the sound file on my mp3 player which
I keep beside my bed which I switch on after a few hours of sleep which I
then leave on repeat loop till I get up.
I personally being a light sleeper always wake up briefly 2 or 3 times each
night and put it on loop during my first waking period.

This is an interesting idea. I've tried to do something like this with a chiming noise but it didn't really work for me. Maybe, like Berto said, a more natural noise will work better. I already made a track I can use and I'm going to try it out. I'll let you know if it works.

Could you possibly post a download of the said audio file?
I think I'm going to try this out.

I uploaded mine onto SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/lionheartedgirl-1/bird-song

Underneath the track there are five buttons ... If you click on the fifth one (the one with the download symbol), you can download the file. Hope that helps!

      You're welcome! And good luck!
It hasn't worked for me yet, but then again it's only been two days.

      Hi Guys
Just thought I would update on this method, I am happy to report
I am still getting good results from this technique most nights I am
      enjoying a lucid dream.

I no longer play the bird song at my computer throughout the day
only during my sleep period this is enough to alert me to a dream
often I hear the sound during a wakeful period and being aware of
It this seems to make it easier to slip straight into a lucid dream.

One other thing during one lucid dream I heard the song go off twice
so this also gives me an indication of the dreams length.

Awesome! I haven't tried it in a few days but I think I'll start again.

      Hi guys
Unfortunately although I had some good success using this method, in the last two
weeks it has failed to work whatsoever. I have tried using different sounds but none
have entered my dreams like they did at the start. I only hear the sounds if I happen
to be awake when they come on.
Still it was fun while it lasted, last night I did not bother using it and had a brief
      lucid dream.
