      Lucid Supplements

So I've never succeeded in lucid dreaming before, even after years of on and off trying. Right now I've been in the longest on period after having the first sign of real (albeit small) progress after trying out some supplements. I now want to try something more powerful. Now, before you tell me supplements alone can't grant lucida, I know. It's just that I don't tend to recall my dreams and attempts to increase recall don't usually work for me. So I need a supplement to increase vividness both to increase recall and to independently increase the chance of becoming lucid. This one here *Link for "Lucid Dreams" supplement removed* is what I've been looking at. The reviews seem positive, but I was hoping I could get some input from experienced dreamers on this supplement. If any of you have used it, I'd like to hear how it worked. Alternatively, if any of you have used other supplements with success that you'd recommend, I'd like to hear about it.

Thanks all for your input, dream on.

It's a combo recipe. Either it will work for you or it won't but you won't be able to experiment with changing the dosages of the individual ingredients in any way other than taking one or taking two.

Before getting into supplements I'd recommend reading the Yuschak book on lucid dreaming via supplements. Lots of good info in there, and describes the substances one by one and recommends particular combinations.

The supplement you are considering seems to have a great deal of contrary action ingredients all in one pill. 5-HTP and melatonin are best taken pre bed, while choline and Huperzine are best taken at wbtb, i.e. after some sleep.

If you have trouble remembering your dreams, I would suggest a number lifestyle changes over the long run - healthy food and exercise, a regular sleep schedule and catching up on sleep. You can also try meditation and dream journalling anything you remember. See if that makes a difference first.

A few general points that may otherwise easily be overlooked: Make sure your bedroom is very dark. And quiet. Avoid strenuous exercise shortly before bedtime (both physical and mental) - in other words wind down for the night. Avoid stimulating foods and drinks in the last several hours before bedtime.

As for supplements, one simple combo that seems to work quite well for me is 100 mg caffeine with 200 mg L-theanine - both taken at WBTB-time. The caffeine makes me more alert, and the theanine allows me to fall asleep again.

Another useful combo for me is 100 mg Vitamin B6 with 500 mg L-tyrosine (also at WBTB-time).

Then there is Matcha tea, which contains both caffeine and theanine (it is also very healthy).

There are many other herbs which have proven useful for some, but everyones needs are different - it all depends on ones personal chemistry (especially of the central nervous system).

Search around in this subforum; it is loaded with suggestions, and reports of personal experiences.
So ... is this the real universe, or is it just a preliminary study?
