Hello!
New here. New to LD. I've had some in the past naturally, but honestly only turned on to LD a few days or so. I'll get around to updated my profile/avatar/all that fun stuff soon - just had to post my first purposeful DILD here.
I don't know anything I dreamed of during the night, but I woke up at around 5:00 or so, after 4 hours of sleep. I got up, laid back down, and tried to WILD. I was really tired and had (and still have) a headache, and I've felt sleep deprived and exhausted the past few days. So when WILD felt too tough, I gave up. My head was throbbing, and the added body throbbing and blood rushes were too unpleasant. So I tried to fall asleep, but even that was difficult with thoughts of lucid dreaming so present in my mind. Every time I would start to drift off into unconsciousness or see dream images I would think about them and try to keep consciousness and wake back up. Frustrating. Finally, at some point, I was able to drift off into sleep. I remember 2 dreams one semi-lucid, one completely lucid. For the sake of time, I'll skip the semi-lucid one and get to the best part.
The fully lucid dream I was driving this old-school van on icy roads. I was really tense and nervous; I hate driving on ice. The van was one of those big, empty, work-style vans. I asked myself if this was logical; if I could be dreaming. After all, we don't own a van like this, and I couldn't remember where I was coming from or really where I was going. The roads were fairly empty. I decided to do a RC and I pinched my nose shut. I kept breathing. I remember being excited and shocked at the realness of the dream, the way I felt I was so very IN it. And it was everything I wanted. So I drove as fast as I could and decided to see what would happen if I jerked the wheel as hard as I could. The van spun around very fast on the ice. Then I started driving straight and there was a big hill in front of me. I thought At the top of the hill I want the van to soar into the air. I was just thinking a cool jump, but then I realized, I want it to turn into an airplane and take off into the sky. I hit the gas and the van flew towards the hill, and sure enough as it got to the top of the hill, it lost contact with the road and there were makeshift metal wings on the sides and it took off soaring. The road just sort of ended and I was flying over the ground which seemed to drop below me. The van turned into a cockpit and I didn't recognize any of the instruments. I started to get panicky this is sort of a recurring nightmare of mine, being unable to drive or operate a vehicle I'm in. With the feeling of fright, my lucidity came back no need to be afraid! I'm in control here. I thought of my options I can either will someone else into the cockpit with me; a pilot who knows how to fly the vanplane or I can decide that I know how to successfully fly it because I have a pilot's license. I went with the second option. I think I remember at that point reaching into my pocket and pulling out this big paper pilot's license to prove to myself that I knew how to fly. I reached for the controls to start flying the vanplane, and I was able to establish control over it. I stabilized it, lifted upward, kept from crashing down to the ground. But that's where the dream left off my guess is I either drifted a bit too awake, or got too distracted in the dream and lost at that point.
Well worth the effort.
