Strange Lucid Dream - attempting to see what it feels like to die?

I'm a new member, this seems to be the right place to post about a dream.....

Not sure if anyone has experienced anything similar to this, in the dream I dropped in and out of lucidity, was at 100% at some stages and other stages not so much.

Well it began in my parents old house, the police were on there way and in my head I had been framed for something that I couldn't prove otherwise. There was a shotgun against the wall and I suddenly realised I was dreaming.

NOTE: When I was younger I used to always know when I was dreaming and could change dreamscapes by covering my ears and closing my eyes although I never became lucid. This still happens from time to time, I can change dreamscapes without becoming lucid or intentionally wake myself up but more often than not I become lucid when this happens.

Upon realising that I was dreaming I though an interesting way to change the dreamscape would be to experience what it was like to die. I wanted to know if this would help me. So I picked up the shotgun and shot myself in the head (in case anyone is wondering, I am in no means suicidal in the physical ).

What happened next was I had a tingle all over, a pins and needles type vibratory feeling and my being was raised into the air, I could see stars on either side and I ended up in a room of what I perceived to be a big, old building made of big brownish blocks, castle like. I was sat down opposite and old woman who I was talking to. I was asking her about the nature of the universe and the meaning of life. She was talking to me in riddles that made perfect sense at the time (upon awakening it meant nothing to me). Lucidity was down to about 75% at this point I'd say.

Anyway post conversation the dream changed and I lost most of the lucidity, I was outside watching a penguin parade and feeding them fish.

The mind truly is a wonderful thing.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

yeah i understand about the part where riddles in dreams make perfect sense at the time but then you wake up and ur like WTF? haha the penguin parade was hella funny and i also thought the whole shotgun suicide thing was interesting. For me doing sometihng like that would cause to much excitment and wake me up. but my hats off to you cuz it sounds like an interesting dream. O and with the drifting in an out of lucidity i totally get that. I have realized i am dreaming but try and continue along with the plot of the dream and then forget so i guess the answer would be to do somthing radicalally different then your dreams predisposed plan such as, idk, shoooting urself with a shotgun haaha

I don't know about the dying part, but the mind is truly an amazing thing, I got tazed in a dream the other day, and it felt like intense vibrations, then I woke up and realized my arms fell asleep lol
Funny how small things on the outside world can effect the dream greatly.
