Had my first lucid dream :)

It was on a night that I had been reading about lucid dreaming and astral projection. I learned about an astral projection technique that involved imagining a rope and pulling yourself out of your body. Apparently, I pulled myself onto my bedroom floor, or so I thought...

The floor turned into a stone street, and there was a lot white light. I felt a lot of space around me, but when I looked up, there was a stone wall covering an arched gateway. I patted it down but it was solid. I'm thinking to myself "Aw man, I cant control my dream..."

I turned around to see where I was, and I was in an empty white space, surrounded by gateways. The gateways were black, indicating that i could go into them. I immediately thought of a dream intention. I thought to myself, "I dont want to walk into a nightmare, so think about your intention."

My intention is to meet a character from stories that I've been writing. I walked around the gateways, and at the base of them there were names. I checked 3 gateways but I only remembered 1 name. I didnt get to check the last gateway. Then I woke up.

It was so surreal. So surreal that I barely believe that I was actually lucid. Look forward to my next one

Congrats on the first lucid dream!
Next time don't think "Aw, can't control" and instead think positive, remember that expectation greatly affects dream control. Check out this tutorial for more info about dream control: Dream Control Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views

My Raven, One thing that kept me encouraged was noticing the little things that changed in my dreams after I started learning about lucidity. I've noticed several changes in my dreams, the most significant being, I've had more realistic reactions to things, even though I wasn't lucid. The dream journal, and reality checking helped me out the most.

Here's something thats weird for me. Many nights I've tried getting to sleep thinking, "Lucidity, Lucidity" and some of those nights, I barely even dream. But on nights that I've read and studied about lucidity and just let myself fall asleep, I've gotten closer to lucidity, like the night mentioned in my post.

I still have a long way to go. I'm glad I found a such a great resource to help me out. I've learned a lot here already.

Keep at it! It's really worth it man.. If you keep trying you can only start to get better, and eventually get lucid!

certain foods, spices, and drinks also increase the chances of becoming lucid. they should be consumed before bed. personally i use green tea with nutmeg spices in it and within one week of doing that i had two lucid dreams. when before i could only get them occasionaly. also i feel like it increases the vividness of a dream.
