First Lucid, fun at first, then horrible!

So, I've been trying to Lucid for only 2 days, but I was able to WILD on my first attempt last night! It was unforgettable, the HH weren't as scary as I thought, in fact, pretty much all I got was a buzzing noise followed by doors slamming and then I was sitting on a chair, at someone's birthday party. I was in a dream!

I instantly punched the door and it went flying. I was able to fly straight away. I decided I would have a gunfight (why the hell not?). I was surprised at how well I could control my dream, as I heard it was hard for beginners. I changed the weather, summoned a dragon, played football in a stadium in front of thousands, had a boxing match and went to the best buffet with the best food I've ever tasted!

This seemed to last about 10 minutes. Then, I decided to talk to my dream characters. I asked the, questions about myself and got answers that I didn't expect, but actually seemed 100% accurate.

Then i said, "Bring (my friend) into this dream!" What i was greeted with scared me. He started off as a bright light in the shape of a person. He became more and more detailed until finally, he fell to the ground. He looked around, and instantly began crying and screaming, "where am I!" I calmed him down and said, "this is my dream, you are a project of my imagination". He instantly began shouting, "No! No I'm Pete!". He then broke down on the floor rocking back and forth. I said, "get rid of him!". And he disappeared from my dream.

I tried to wake up, I couldn't. I screamed "wake up". Nothing. Then I asked a dream character, "wake me up!" He replied, "it is not time yet, have patience, enjoy this."

I did everything I could to to try and wake up, I couldn't. I carried on doing what I was doing, having fun, in the hope I would wake up soon. Then, after what seemed like at least 5 hours, I woke up to see I'd only been asleep for 20 minutes.

This has really scared me and I'm unsure if I want to try lucid dreaming again! Help!

Wow! First, congratulations! Second, you've got a lot of people jealous - I had to try for a long long time before it happened for me, and I only rarely ever get lucid.

But it'll help when you understand a couple of things. DC's never like to be told they're just DC's. I mean think about it - would you? They're simulacra of people, so it makes sense if you tell then they're not really people they'd react badly. I think somewhere inside we feel bad for telling them they're not real so that launches a dream schema of them freaking out.

And once you understand the concept of dream schema there's the answer to the second part. Do you know what dream schema means? It means dreams respond instantly to our every thought, emotion, etc and they shape the way the dream will go. Once you feel fear or grief that becomes an integral part of the dream and changes the direction of it. This is why people say expectation is everything in dreams - it's really true. If you really feel confident then you'll be powerful and secure in the dream. If you feel afraid then it'll turn into a scary dream of being chased. And if you feel guilty because you think you just did something horrible to your friend, well - you saw the result.

The key is to fully realize that everything in the dream is the moment-by-moment creation of your own mind. Your friend was not really your friend - he was just a projection as you told him. But when he started freaking out you felt bad - it got to you and you let yourself forget everything is just projections. So what - your projection of your friend was giving you what you expected it to - acting like you had betrayed it somehow and putting on a good dramatic reality show. But somewhere along the way you forgot it was all a show, put on by your subconscious for you. You started thinking some elements of it were real. Otherwise what is there to be scared of or feel bad about?

Congrats! My dreams seem to keep me longer in them than I want too sometimes. But I think that's interesting/cool that a dream character of yours said "it is not time yet, have patience, enjoy this.". One time I focused on my home and I woke up. Maybe that will help you, or you could do what the dream character suggested.

Be happy with it... lucker... after you learn more controls, it will be awesome. Also, so soon having such a long dream, that's a real big thing! I don't say I'm so much into dreaming or that I know lot of things cause I don't, but I'm almost doing this for a year, and can't really recall so clear dream control, nor lenght as you had. I still have problems getting for example DCs into a dream. And dragons.... :bravo:

Congrats on first lucid dream, and wow that was pretty awesome for first lucid!
And a great level of control too, why you ever wanted to wake up? There's nothing to be afraid of in dream, nothing in dream can hurt your waking body, sometimes DCs can be unpredictable, but that's a fun thing about them , if you want you can fully control them though, everything is possible in dream.

very well put Darkmatters. "expectations dictate the experience" is how I have tried to explain it to people. @OP congrats on your first lucid dream.

Well shit, I'm jealous of you.

I'd love to be in a lucid dream for 5 hours, lol. I think Darkmatters explained what happened to you very well, you just have to keep telling yourself that it's just a dream and not real life (I've found that when you start to forget that you're in a dream, that's when it starts to go haywire and get weird). Although, I would probably feel bad if I caused one of my DCs to have a mental breakdown too, so I can understand why it bothered you.

I'm kind of like you, I've always been pretty good at controlling dreams (on the off chance that I actually get lucid). The only thing that I can think of that I couldn't get quite right was transforming into an animal (I tried to turn into a tyrannosaurus once, as well as a tiger). I think I actually turned into the hulk once though, lol.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of questions did you ask your DCs? What did they say?
You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...

your dream character told you it was not time yet, be patient and have fun with it, why did you not listen to him?
