      Sleep Paralysis

I had a very vivid sleep paralysis experience recently. I first heard as if there was someone in the house doing something. I couldn't tell exactly what it was, but could hear rearranging noises as if someone was cleaning up. Then, I experienced the paralysis. I freaked out and was screaming my head off. I realized I was paralyzed and tried to calm down. I screamed again and I felt this sound as if I were traveling on a fast speed train followed by a high pitched tone and woke up.
How did you stop freaking out when this happens? I read this is a very good way to enter a lucid...

The key I think is just to calm yourself down. You then attempt a WILD like normal. I believe the advantage is supposed to be that your brain is already partially in a dream state, and your body is mostly asleep. So, by calming down and relaxing you should be able to loose track of your body and that would leave just the partial dream state. If you then explore this partial dream, it may develop into a true LD. I do not get SP myself, but I think that is the process.

Learning to calm yourself can be accomplished through training your mind while awake. Learn calming meditations, and affirm to yourself often that you will stay calm if it happens again. If you want to really develop the skill to stay calm, then you can follow the link in my sig and read: advanced lesson #2- immunity to shock.

Thank you Sivason. I sort of had an idea about this and that's why i tried to calm myself. I will def. practice immunity to shock. It sounds like a very useful technique even for my waking life!
