      Exclamation Don't Try This!

Now I don't want to put you off Lucid Dreaming but I feel that I need to warn you. My dream went like this.

I had determined what I wanted to do during the day. I wanted to meet myself, see what it was like, maybe talk and experience what it's like to have two of me. As I was in my dream I became lucid and set to work straight away. At first I couldn't just make another 'Me' appear so I decided to find a mirror. My idea was that when I saw my reflection, I would pull myself out and have another 'Me'. (Mirror's are bad! Very Bad!)

I found a mirror, it was propped up against a wall with a dusty antique frame. At first I was amazed at how vividly my mind produced it. I could see the reflection and I could even see what was behind me. I looked behind me and the reflection was correct. It was amazing.

But I looked close at my own reflection and it was not what I expected. Nothing describes the feeling you get when you look into a mirror and see someone else. This person horrified me to say the least. My face was ugly and demonic. My clone still had similar facial features but they were distorted and angry looking

He climbed out of the mirror himself and I remember saying distinctly, "Get the hell out of my dream!". He looked confused and answered, "But I am you, this is my dream."

Now I was shaking, the feeling like you're going to die was rising, this is where you don't want to be. Because it's so realistic. I kept thinking that I was created by me and that I wasn't the real one. I felt like I would die and that he would wake up. Then I thought about my family and what would happen if this ugly demon freak could kill them.

Then I said, "This is my dream" and kicked him but it didn't even effect him. He reached for me so I closed my eyes as tight as I could and I eventually woke up through a moment of darkness.

As you can understand, this dream haunts me. I suggest you don't try it. I think this happened because when you are in a dream, it's in you're mind. If you make another 'you', then it adds another mind and creates a dual minded dream I guess. So the two of you can control it at the same time.

Very freaky experience. Needless to say, I'll never try it again. But I'll always Lucid Dream. I'll just stick to flying next time.

reminds me a little of an experiance i had, i think it was OBE or it was a very vivid dream.cant remember now how the beginning of the dream went but i ended starring at my self in the mirror and it looking like a portal,so i jumped in it,within the instance i was floating above my body in bed, watching me and my girlfriend sleeping, woke up straight away and we were both in the exact same postion i had just seen.
not really like your dream at all really but involed my reflection.
when i come more experianced with lucid dreaming and can control my thoughts in a dream and not get to freaked out,i may try and meet my self.

Indeed a very interesting dream. But I disagree with the "don't try this" You just have to know what possibilities are there when you do it. I bet you werent expecting any of that to happen.
Once you began to doubt that you were real, you will lose your control (since you made yourself lower than your other you, because you doubt yourself) If you had kept your confidence that you were real, and he was just a nightmare, then I think your kick would definetly have affected him.
I think that's what makes it exiting, it's the only kind of challenge there is, there comes things that will make you doubt, and you have to combat it and go "No, this is my dream, my rules, get out. If you wont leave, you will cease to exist."

Ofcourse, I realize that would be hard to do in the situation, but I'm sure you'll be able to meet another you without problems if you try again.

I'm going to try it myself when I can.
      Good luck!

I can't imagine the fear you must've felt! I've had bad experiencs with mirrors too. I once looked at a mirror and I had two eyes rolling around in the same socket.

      ARGGGGG...

Nature commands me to try this just because of how scary you made it seem.....

I'd love to meet myself in a dream but your right I'd better not. Mirrors have freaked me out in real life I should stay away from them in a dream. Once when I was really dizzy I looked in a mirror and saw the same type of face you're on about and it freaked me out. I was looking straight at myself too. Freaking scary but except for waking up that's the only visual hallucination I've had ever. Thank god too, I was at my grandma's house which was supposed to be haunted .

Maybe I can meet a lucid "representative" of a different side of myself? I have tried this with guides but couldn't remember a thing.

That was quite an interesting experience there. The way I see it, one of the downsides of being an experienced lucid dreamer is too much of what you set out to gain, control. It'd surely get to a point at which you are so aware, and have so much control that nothing unexpected or exciting happens anymore, so this could actually be a good laugh to try.

I'm gonna wait until I get a little better at WILDing before I give this a go, why scare myself out of something so rare as a DILD when it could be days or even weeks before I achieve another? But when I do get around to this I'm sure I'll enjoy it, I'm a big fan of scary experiences ever since I got caught playing knock-a-door-run on old Billy down the road and he set his dog on me when I was ten. Good times.

I dont recall ever seeing a mirror in any of my dreams, but if I get the chance im definetly going to look at one. To me that sounds like a worthwhile experience to had, its not like you're mentally scarred, right, RIGHT!?

      Man.
I'll probably try this if I ever manage to have a really stable lucid and walk around a non-chaotic dreamscape for a while.
I'm just a little concerned with the possible long-term psychological effects this might induce.
Not that I'm any kind of doctor, but, I mean.
Something about split personality, I guess.

Very interesting dream, but don't let it put you off.

I remember looking into a mirror back in October or November 2007 (before I joined DV, I used to lurk all the time). It was actually one of the Lucid Tasks of the Month --find your reflection in a mirror and pull it out-- or something like that.

I ended up looking at myself in the mirror and seeing my daughter's reflection. Her face started morphing into something scary, but I told the reflection "You will turn into me," and it did; it turned into a child version of myself. For me, it was all about control. I knew I was lucid, and I knew I could change the scene if I became too scared. Sometimes, I like to see how scared I can get before trying to change the scene.

I had a similar dream. This was one of my first few lucid dreams I've had, and I remember searching for a mirror so I could look at myself. When I found the mirror, I saw myself, but my reflection kept getting younger and younger. Eventually, my face started turning really red (like it was burned) and scars and black marks started appearing across my face. I freaked out and ran away from the mirror, but that caused me to lose a lot of my lucidity. Mirrors, I would say, are mostly unpredictable and usually somehow result in something unpleasant.

So basically, it's like Siegfried looking into a mirror and seeing Nightmare? o_O Dude, like they said, you should have stayed confident and Sparta Kicked that dude back to mirror world.

maybe wat u did was try and inflict a sense of rush. Do you like scary movies? I don't think you have to worry though. If it happens again, try breaking the mirror. I don't know wat will happen though.

I just had a lucid dream about mirrors last night (see my post at http://dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=61174 ). Basically, nothing abnormal about my face, with the exception of some very slight water-like distortion (probably because I was sticking my hands through the mirror). I even went to the other side, nothing bad happened to me. Also, I wasn't just glancing at the mirror, I was studying it. I made it a purpose of this LD to study mirrors, and nothing bad came out of it -- I was even almost expecting to see some crazy shit, but nope.

Anyway, this sounds to me like the mirror you was a representation of your "evil side", which is present in all of us to some extent or another. Check out these lyrics that really touch on the subject http://www.sing365.com/music/lyric.n...256BBF0034603F

And what could this dream possibly have had to do with the astral?

Interesting. It sounds like you were actually projecting you own reactions on the other self in your dream, since it was supposed to be you. If it wasn;t supposed to be you, I wouldn;t think it to be confused when you said it was your dream (note to self: see how convincingly DCs can act). As for using toi mirror toi talk to yourself in a dream, your post just inspired me to try doing so. Simply because it could be iunsettling doesn;t seem like any reason to never try it. Normal person: That button shocked me! I;d better not touch it again. Scientific approach: That buitton shocked me! I wonder if it does that every time, or if it is only7 brought about by certain conditions? Thsi dream would be the metaphorical electrified button.

i think there is a reason you put L on your avvy.you think a bit like him...even though he isn't really a real person...i wonder who came up with his character...
anywho...i've looked in lots of mirrors in and out of dreams and i get odd reactions from my reflections...not to creep anyone out but has anyone else just glanced in a mirror and not seen yourself? it's quite disconcerting.in dreams i usually don't have enough focus to study mirrors...the dream usually switches if its not me or its just me and i get bored with it and move on.but in real life because i tend to not see myself in glances sometimes i use mirror meditation and study deep into my eyes...there was a thread in beyond dreaming on mirror meditation.it is quite helpful but works better if you don't have to hog the bathroom enough of my rambling for now...bai
