I had my first lucid dream (weird though)

I had my very first lucid dream today. it was a DILD although i have been working hard on WILDs. It was a false awakening and so i did the nose plug technique like usual and i could breathe a little still, but barely, like nose was really stopped up. that didn't convince me so i checked my alarm clock several times and it changed around 2 or 3 minutes each time then i knew it was a dream.

This is the weird part though. all while this was going on it was like i was super drunk and could barely stand up. I couldn't see very well either. felt like i was still very tired. So i stumbled out of my room and i tried to fly. well that didn't work and i just fell over. it was like the floors were moving and at a very slanted angle or something although they looked flat. just like if i was past wasted.

since my flying didn't work I decided to try to in vision my GF being in my room so i walked to my door and looked inside but all I saw was myself sleeping in bed...

Now come to think of it my bed was in the wrong place. weird. then i woke up for real. So that was my first lucid dream but sucked cause i couldn't do anything. I was really trying hard to stand up and telling myself that i can walk easily but it didn't happen.

      Any pointers for next time?

      Hey gbling,

First off congrats on your first Lucid Dream! Usually when people have their first Lucid Dream, things don't go the way they want them. What you were explaining, was pretty much typical of a first time Lucid Dream. Everything being distorted, not being able to see well, or even having trouble doing things..

My personal suggestion, which I use myself to this day, is when you do become Lucid next time, just sit there for a few seconds and calm yourself down, let your surroundings come into focus as well. Once you think everything has come into focus and you are calm enough and can move properly, try doing whatever comes to your mind.

Rubbing of the hands also helps with stability in a dream, so also try that if you would like!

Hope this helps, and again, congrats!

Awesome! Congrats as well. Didn't sound too enjoyable though! Haha, don't worry. If lucid dreaming was merely stumbling around feeling wasted, this website wouldn't be here. In my first lucid my legs were made of rubber and bouncing uncontrollably. My bedroom was also not exactly arranged correctly, either. That tired feeling will not always be there. I don't understand why we can sometimes feel very tired in lucid dreams. But usually I'm wide-awake. I think it will help if you do what spiritofthewolf mentioned, and rub your hands together. Look at them at the same time. This will wake your mind up.

Anyway, you've broken through. It will only get better from here. You have the conviction that we're not all lunatics talking about something that is impossible.

Longest lucid dream was something over one hour.

for who can know those distant stars? like a life we have not lived, within the twinkle. like a universe we've not known, so far away.

That's really interesting Cusp. I still sometimes have the 3rd one happen to me. Even if its trying to achieve a goal of mine. Sometimes I'll be so set on that goal and open a door to my set goal (below in my signature) and i'll wake up or something. It's happened more in the past than now, but I can for sure see what you are saying!

yeah gaining lucidity after an FA is different somehow - I also get the drunken feeling sometimes, as well as obscured vision- but with practice this can be overcome

That that was pretty interesting. I guess that I put so much focus into trying to fight the drunk feeling i was actually creating it and making it worse?
