I believe this in so far as you cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your reaction to it. Even if it is resisting a negative impulse at first, you can still control your reaction and emotions to make things better rather than worse.

This certainly represents a paradigm shift for the people trying to sort out the whole Israel-Palestine thing. I mean, for a start, they don't even need to talk to any Israelis or Palestinians. They could work from home.

Seeing as how you're ignoring me, it would be a waste of time to try and convince you of anything.

However there is something to be said about taking responsibility for your circumstances in life, no matter how external and alien these circumstances appear to be. An antagonistic attitude about events has the tendency to propagate the very qualities about the world you disdain. Feeding negativity empowers that negativity. Getting hung up on the conflicts themselves only reinforces them. Focusing on the potential solutions to problems, and living in that positive state of mind where one plans for the worst but expects the best, enables these solutions to manifest. While it can be disappointing when one learns that this power does not work instantaneously, it's important to remain mindful and focused on these solutions, extending forward a palm rather than a fist.

And as always, be grateful. Gratitude is not a reaction your circumstances in life, it is a muscle one exercises to strengthen their connection to God.

I see what you mean. The problems I have had in life, always began with the way I viewed things.

It's been a while . I'm just now rereading old threads and came across this unanswered post. I guess I truly wasn't ready to respond. I agree that being mindful is where we learn or biggest lessons. Switching perspectives is key to understanding and having compassion and forgiviness for the whole world. I am here to play this perspective of GOD, higherself, Source of all there is. From this perspective can I only speak. I have compassion and forgiviness for both sides of any war because our differences at the core don't exist.
