      Odd Mind-blowing Thoughts

This is sort of a follow up one one of my previous threads about something I like to think about when I am bored. So I was wondering what you yall think about that is mind-blowing or something that when you think about it you say to yourself "If I think about this too much longer I might just go insane or my brain might start bleeding" For example: The forth dimension

So post your thoughts and if you want to see mine refer to the thread "Why did I do That?"
"Pain is just weakness leaving your body "

What blows my mind are psychedelic alkaloids.

There are chemicals on earth that occur in fungi, plants,
      and animals,
that when crossed with the human body
start a chain reaction of Hyper-sensitivity.

Like LSD, or mescaline, or psilocybe mushrooms . .

Our relationship with entheogens is absolutely menacing, and beautiful.

      Imagine experiencing a few weeks
      in Half a day,
Not being able to stop laughing
      and understanding everything.
      FEEEEEEEL the rhythms . .

There's nothing else that blows my mind more thoroughly than that.

      Other than, of course,
the reasoning behind the universe being.

      Indeed the fourth dimension.
I have saved this to my favorites and have looked over it to try and understand it but.
      The Fourth Dimension

orbsycli. Is it the experience on them that fascinates you or the chemicals themselves?

I personally cannot get a grasp on our own consciousness.
I read about it write about it here about it but it is still ...where? What is it actually and what is it capable of.
As the Dictionary would have it-->
      1.
      1. Having an awareness of one's environment and one's own existence, sensations, and thoughts. See Synonyms at aware.
      2. Mentally perceptive or alert; awake: The patient remained fully conscious after the local anesthetic was administered.
      2. Capable of thought, will, or perception: the development of conscious life on the planet.
      3. Subjectively known or felt: conscious remorse.
      4. Intentionally conceived or done; deliberate: a conscious insult; made a conscious effort to speak more clearly.
      5. Inwardly attentive or sensible; mindful: was increasingly conscious of being watched.
      6. Especially aware of or preoccupied with. Often used in combination: a cost-conscious approach to further development; a health-conscious diet.

But all of these can go into greater detail and philosophical debate.

      Our relationship with entheogens,
as well as their (and our) existence
      is what fascinates me.

Are you familiar with Salvia Divorium? An herb a plant, usually, taken to bring on a spiritual experience.

O I'm too familiar with Salvia,
used to do it a lot in high school.

Take a couple good rips of that stuff
and you will be in another world.

My legs shot out into this giant sun
      that was burning before me,
      and they were highways.

      Raging,
words flew up and down my legs
      into the sun
      and I,
      an observer I guess
      just sat back
      and watched.

      Entranced by my vision.

      After every salvia trip
I have felt like complete shit,
The visions last up to 5 minutes
and are not worth it at all.

It was nice to experience salvia,
      but never again.

Yup, how we became conscious gets me too, along with (but not resticted to):

Mirrors - Look in a mirror, you are reflected back-to-front (i.e right becomes left), but not upside down. I know how it works, and why that happens, but it still gets me. I've even tried lying down on my side infront of a mirror to try and explain it, but I just get confused.

Looking at the Moon, then realising how far away it is, and how big it is.

Tigers - they're bright orange but they can still hide in a green jungle.

Wave particle duality, and electron diffraction, or rather - how an electron can interfere with itself.

Oh, and Dance music, how can anybody listen to it for pleasure?!

I enjoyed dance music one night,

there was a rave on the beach!

I was so into the fact that

if i danced all night I would stay warm (+I was tripping)

That was about the only time, though.

"Dance Music" is too broad a term to ask why someone likes it.

There are many different genres of Dance Music. And it's not just the Boom-Boom-Boom stuff that you hear at raves.

Most fundamentally, the reason to enjoy dance music is the ability to dance. It doesn't matter if you dance the Waltz, Foxtrot, Salsa, Merengue, Glowstick, Liquid, Pop, Lock, Break, whatever. If you are the type that practices dancing, there comes a time when your body begins moving on its own, with hardly any conscious effort on your part. After reaching this point, dance music becomes fuel. I heard once of a study that shows there is something about a breakbeat at between about 120-130 bpm that actually makes the body want to dance. It's definitely true for me because I can't sit still if I hear a good break. Most importantly, usually, when I hear good dance music, I'm going through dance steps in my head which is good mental exercise for any physical activity, such as martial arts.

People exposed to limited types of music begin to get the impression that theirs is the only kind that makes since. Some people think all music should have lyrics. Some think that all should have a smooth flowing melody that you can get lost in. Some think it should all be dirty, garage/industrial type sound. It's only after you step into other worlds for an extended amount of time that you truely understand how the other side lives.

Many people equate "dance music" to the Boom-chk-Boom-chk-Boom-chk-Boom-chk stuff they hear at raves or many 'techno' clubs, but "dance music" is actually an umbrella of many different genres. It would depend on what type of dance music you are referring to.

I listen to Progressive and Atmospheric Breaks because they are, at the same time, melodious and fueled with great percussions that usually are centered around an old hip-hop beat played at a slightly faster tempo.
I like Drum and Bass because its a collection of some of the fastest and most impressive percussions I've ever heard, matching the styles of Jazz greats and setting them to a tempo that get the blood flowing. It's also based on a lot of oldschool and conscious hip-hop works that are thrown into the mix.
I like jungle for the same reasons as drum and bass^.
I like jazzy house because it mixes the smooth, captivating sounds of any great jazz song and sets it to a perfect (albeit usually symmetric and repetitive) beat.
I like Salsa because I love Spanish culture.
I like swing because of the horns, drums and the Zoot-Suit atmosphere.
..uhm...hell I dunno, there are too many types of dance music to even think about right now..I'm at work.

How about that people lived thousands of years ago and had real lives and then died and we will never know who they are.

Mate, it was meant in a lighthearted manner

I'll listen to most things bar rap and hardcore dance, but prog and classic rock has to be the genre(s) of choice. The hardcore-techno-rave flavour of Dance music is one I really don't get, but there you go. Each to their own I guess, although as a rule, if it's on Radio 1 it's probably not my cup of tea.

Like I said, just making sure people know it was meant as a tongue-in-cheek comment!

No problem, man. Sometimes I just like explaining all the good things I like about things that people don't really understand. It wasn't meant to say "Well damnit, dance music is cool, you jerk!!" Haha. I just have a habit of running with an opportunity like that.

what really gets me is when you look into a mirror with another mirror behind you and the endless reflection tunnel it creates. but it starts to become distorted and loses its color. since they are reflections, are the distortions coming from the air? and it isnt possible to see the end, because you wont ever be able look through yourself and see the vanishing point. the vanish point must exist, so what is your reflection hiding?

I've always wanted to stand in a room with mirrors on all four walls, floor and ceiling, for just that very same reason. How insane would that be? Double mirrors have always tripped me out.

I would say that Life blows my mind.

      Why are we here?
What will happen when we die?
Why would God put us in heaven? If he/she is all powerful, it kind of makes the Earth look like a social experiment.
      How did the universe start?
If it is expanding, what is it expanding into?
How could anyone possibly believe that the whole universe is out there, yet we are all alone in it?

I am fascinated by this observation I made about human beings. We are all made up of cells and all those cells work together and accomplish specific tasks. The cells work together to for tissue and organs that all make up a human. Well humans then all seem to do a similar thing. We all do different things and often times work together in order to accomplish something, even on a very large scale. I just thought this was intriguing(sp?).
