Thread: Strangest thing that you think exists

Have you ever studied science? There's some weird shit that gets suggested, but its only weird because its far beyond the limits of our normal life.

The oddest things we have encountered seem to be connected to singularities, where the normal rules just don't apply and nobody knows quite what to expect.

Like physical laws breaking down (a ball of matter becomes a fish) or logical ones (1 + 1 = 34)?

I think dragons and eskimos exist. I have no reason to doubt the existence of dragons, (the komodo dragon for example), but as for eskimos, I'm just going with my gut. But I'm still kind of undecided about them.

Dunno really. I'm guessing there's some pretty fantastic things out there though. I mean virtually everything interesting/complex is going to have to start via evolution and will probably be carbon based, so that's fairly bland and samey, but all sorts of stuff could happen from then on. Crazy societies and cultures out there I suppose, and technologies and life forms...

I think the weirdest thing 'out there' though is consciousness which I suppose is a bit ironic considering there's nothing more familiar to us. But with sufficient technological advances, who knows what kind of stuff you could do to it. Meshing nets together, pulling them apart, slowing them down, speeding them up, maybe even sending them back in time... the limited experiments done on split brain patients and the like at least give us a glimpse into how bizarrely consciousness works.

I may sound nuts but I belive in aliens..And I always wished vampires exsited.

This isn't anything new but I'm sure there has to be another race of beings somewhere in the cosmos. Some prominent scientists think that it's highly likely or even more than likely, but there are some scientists who think that there's nothing to even suggest the idea except Hollywood. Hm. Go figure...

It all depends on context.

In a church, two people fucking is strange. But in the bedroom it would be strange to find a priest holding a mass.

Everything is normal if you see it in its context.

A priest holding a 'mass' in the bedroom isn't all that strange. Especially if it's a black priest, then he might even be holding a very big mass in the bedroom.

I think that in the vastness of space, somewhere there has to be a race of sentient machines. If it is possible to create computers so advanced that they can think for themselves most assuredly somewhere out of all the other lifeforms that HAVE to exist, one of them decided to create super-robots.

I agree with this..GOD would be strange but not in a weird way, A way in which all that somes beliefs would be true or false.

I think quantum wavefunctions are pretty strange. It's always interesting trying to imagine a wave that oscillates in real and imaginary space (ok, it's more of a mathematical trick, but the fact that a physical object requires complex numbers at all is still interesting).

Gay niggers are by far the strangest.

Just the mere mention of them on a forums can create a time altering paradox that, given the time, causes the speaker to be forever banned from a forums.
