I'm not trying to push this idea on anyone, no one here has my individual experiences, I'm just sharing what I hold as most probably true.

One thing, though - how do you rationalize karma when 'good' and 'bad' are so obviously subjective matters? Karma necessitates some sort of objective 'good' and 'bad' value to every action, doesn't it?
