Post Stopping with marijuana to experiment...

Hello i am happy to announce that i officially stopped using marijuana after using it for 2 years almost everyday. i stopped because it is making me forget a lot of things and it makes me lazy. And some other reasons not worth of mentioning in this thread because i didn't make this thread to hear how good i am because i stopped

(if you would like to hear them or want some support for stopping also feel free to pm me)

no there is a reason it is in the experiment section and that is to see how it will affect my dream recall i have stopped eight days and i remembered 2 dreams since the last two days. this maybe doesn't sound like much but before it was normal to recall 1 dream in 2 weeks. so i am already noticing improvement.

(Random tip eat bananas they contain vitamin B12 which will improve your dream recall even more also heard B6 did the same but i am not sure)

i cant wait to see how many dream i will recall after three weeks. so i will be posting the results be sure to check back in one week and i will have enough information to update this thread

I used to do the same and it indeed helps me fall asleep faster. but the problems arise when i wake up because there is no memory of any dream. today i remember 1 dream for i think 25% and the other only 5%.

You'll have to tell us how it works out.

Hi Yahiko! I'm sorry you're sick; feel better soon please. I stumbled across this topic and was very interested in your endeavors. I smoke daily as well, so I know the effects that you're talking about. For some, marijuana really does affect dream recall to an extreme and attempting to remember is usually met with ill results.

If you're already seeing results, awesome! I think it's admirable to want to remember your dreams. I, too, am cutting back on my MJ use to help my dream recall; however, I'm doing it a bit differently. I'm avoiding smoking about three-five hours at the minimum before my bedtime so that I'm not falling asleep high. While I'm still testing this, I think it's really improving my recall and gives me a medium between smoking and dream recall. Remembering is not an issue, and marijuana is great. I hope you can find the place that makes you happiest with the best of both worlds.

      Cheers!

I'm really happy for you that you were able to give up. Marijuana isn't a good thing for your body and I'm sure you know all about what it does to your life.
Anyway what I wanted t osay was Good on ya mate! I hope you have many joyful and hopefully lucid dreams to come!

Of course I'm going to defend marijuana when you put it in a light like that. Marijuana isn't harmful for your body. I don't want to turn this into a marijuana debate, but it's the smoking aspect of marijuana that's bad for your health, just as smoking anything is bad because you're inhaling smoke into your lungs. In addition, a lot of people find it very beneficial and enlightening to use in their life. I can't post a link, but the NORML library is a great reference if you'd like to learn more about it. I agree that there is still much to learn, but the consensus seems to be that marijuana is not a harmful drug.

Well, I'm don't want a marijuana debate either, but I believe in my own opinion that your better off without it. Now let's not hijack Yahiko's thread

I also smoke daily, and I also stop smoking awhile before bed. While many people become lazy and tired when smoking, I become stimulated. You can smoke yourself to sleep but I don't think the sleep is really restful. I also have found that when you stop smoking for a while You will remember your dreams alot more.

Ahh, yeah I quit smoking weed a while back(I never remembered a dream, and developed terrible insomnia) now having quit, I remember 2-4 dreams a night(I've been keeping a dream journal) and I sleep great. It has been a month and a half since I quit. And yeah Yahiko, quitting cold turkey causes a lot of withdraws(I don't care what anyone says, you can have withdraws, I had them) I lost appetite and felt like vomiting often, I slowly worked on quitting, and that made it a lot easier.

Ya its trippy how weed effects everyone so much differently based on lifestyle how much you use it ect. Like its a big differrence if you use it to unwind and relax at the end of the day compared to smoking all day

No biggy man, it took me months to actually "Quit". Though I haven't actually quit, just don't do it. But I would in the event I wanted to and could.

I'm not quitting 100%, but I'm smoking only once a week or less after a year of smoking at least once a day. That year I had no dream recall (though I'd quit focusing on dreaming at that time) and I started cutting back three weeks ago and I've had better and better recall.

I stopped cold-turkey, about 2 or so weeks ago. I used to smoke every day. I had "withdrawals" for awhile, and I think that's what aggravated my insomnia and anxiety, because I used it to help with those 2 things. It really affected my recall, but now I'm recalling 2-4 dreams a night!

Good luck, I know this is an old post and I hope you're doing well if you're still doing the experiment.

Quitting to improve recall has been on my mind a lot lately, but i just thought, why not enjoy both dreaming and MJ. I smoke it pretty much every day so i figure if i just smoke on weekends then i can enjoy both.

I have been on and off weed ever since I got into lucid dreaming. At the start of the year I wasnt smoking much and was having 4-5 dreams every night which was incredible. Throughout the year I have gotten back into some bad patterns but always go back to having breaks but I still havnt gotten to the point of having that many dreams ever since.

I generaly find for me if I have a smoke it will make it hard to remember dreams for a day or two and then im back to normal but If i smoke a lot for a few days or a week then it takes longer to get back into the swing of things. I think this is because of the amount of THC still in your system and it takes a while to filter it all out of your body. Keep at it with the non smoking, im sure after a month or so youl be having plenty of dreams. Just try not to get into the habit of smoking a lot for a few days or whatever. If you do feel the need to smoke try to have a small session every now and then and it might not effect your dreams so much.

thxs! its now been 3 weeks and i can tell a difference. just yesterday i was thinking of smoking a j with my friends. probably the only reason my dream recall was so bad was because i smoked 250$ worth of the best kush in THE WORLD on new years.

This is exactly true. I've been a heavy smoker for 12 years. Daily for at least 3-4 years. I now ONLY vaporize not smoke. Either way if I stop before say 7PM, I WILL have dreams and remember them and feel like I got a better night's sleep. If I vape later than this cutoff time (haven't found the exact time) I will not recall the dream and I feel like I had a very light sleep.

I don't have to wait days to dream. One day without vaping is a guaranteed incredibly vivid dream filled night. The real trick is balancing the two. I use it to treat my anxiety and mild OCD. It is FAR better than any of the medications that exist IMO. Now if only I can find a way to recall my dreams and continue my medication at night.

Wow, this seems really interesting. Im going to try this technique... although i sometimes struggle with sleep without a bedtime zoot.

I want to also experiment with cutting down to a moderate and balanced amount. Although id love to LD 3 times a night, id also be happy to LD 5+ times a week... if it means i still get to have the occasional spliff.

Whichever way, I think there's room to have both in my life.
