      Post Scientific SSILD Experiment

      Hi all

As part of my dissertation project, I currently conduct an online experiment to systematically explore the SSILD technique. For example, I hope to find out,
      - how well this technique is suited for beginners and for LD experts to induce lucid dreams
      - which parameters influence the success of SSILD (e.g. personal factors such as meditation, technical factors such as time slept before SSILD or time spent in SSILD, the effect of halluzinations etc)
      - how lucid dreams achieved with SSILD can be characterized in content, form, "power"
      - a bit more about false awakenings and SSILD
      ... and more.

There are already more than 70 participants, but mostly absolute beginners from Germany with low LD success rate. I would be very happy if many of you here from dream views participate! Especially people with LD experience, maybe even with SSILD experience. But of course everybody is warmly invited to join!

Here is the link to the experiment: www.sleepcommunication.com/exp
Hope to see many of you in the experiment!

      I'd like to sign up.

      Spoiler for My 'credentials':

I'd be quite interested in combining it with a mindfulness (sorta like ADA) practice and meditation, is that a problem?

Wow - all the luck and success - am a beginner myself and not what you are after - I hope, you find seasoned dreamers for finding out about the effects on specifically them!

70 people in Germany alone - that is fantastic!!
How exciting - it is really true, that more and more research is being done!
      Please keep us updated!

MelSchaedlich is doing a sleep lab study at the moment - and Tadas does something still/anew too!

Cool thank you for joining the experiment!
Uhm it would be better for this study, if you not combined it with anything else. However, if you cannot resist at all and would not participate otherwise, you can combine it with something else (but please write this down in the morning questionnaire)!
There will be more experiments in the nearer future, in which I want to combine SSILD (or others) with e.g. legal prescription-free substances, or maybe also meditation or other techniques. But first I'd like to start with a simple standard-SSILD.

Thank you! Of course I'll keep you updated! But first I need good and many data So please join, even if you are not an LD expert already!
Yep I have seen the two studies of them, they look really great (as far as I can judge this with my little experience^^) and already signed up for them, but sadly forgot to perform the task in my recent lucid dreams...

I will give it a week or so - since I seem to be on the up with at least short LD episodes over the last days - brought about with a bit of a messed up mixed up approach - and then first of all try out the fingertapping for Tadas again.
Having a bit of a bad consciousness there..

Do I get this right - one can simply submit one night - or some several - with trying it out?
Not stay with pure SSILD for a longer stretch?
I guess, I take part then as well!

      Hurra to all LD-research!!

Yeah, I'll be doing it too, on-and-off. It's great that research is being done again.

Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way

Yep sure! Of course, the more nights, the better for the scientific analysis... but yeah, just try it out and report your experiences!

I like how easy you've made it to participate! How strict is the timing where you say that we have to wake up after 4-5 hours to do SSILD? When I did the experiment a couple days ago I used an alarm clock so that I could get within the 4-5 hour range pretty nicely but it woke me up too much to do SSILD. Is it okay if I do the SSILD after 3 or 6 hours of sleeping?

      Thank you!
Timing: I tell the participant to what time to set the alarm. I don't want to talk too much about this here since it might interfere with the experiment... However, if you find it too hard to fall asleep again after the alarm clock woke you up, you can also try the "natural" 3 or 6 hour version. But please still do the evening+night check-in, so I know what time you were performing SSILD, and write a brief comment in the morning why you used a different time point than suggested so I can consider this information in my analyses.
