      Sleep walking... conciously

I had an idea earlier on today. I wondered if it is possible to become lucid in a dream, then take control of your real body.
And I remembered back from a while ago, when I was lucid, I remember that I could feel my real body moving to whatever I did.
For example, I did the nose pinch reality check while I was lucid, and it didn't work, then I wondered why, and a realised that my real body was doing the exact same movements as I did in the dream. I knew this because I could feel my real body at that point and I could feel my arms moving, and I could feel the touch of my hand to my nose on my real body. I was perfectly aware of my covers over my body and my bed beneath me and my room around me, I think I even opened my eyes for a split second and saw my room and immediately re-entered my lucid dream.

Now, what I was thinking was that we could maybe take this a step further.
Maybe it is possible to become lucid, go to the bedroom you are sleeping in, lay down in your bed, then try to become aware of your real body surroundings. Try to get into the state I was in that time I could control my real body. And then just get out of your bed in the dream, and then your real body follow your exact movements.

This would be a very amazing thing to do, because you would essentially just be walking around, and seeing things without your eyes. so long as you knew and remembered where you are and what it looked like, you would basically just be guiding yourself without having to actually use your eyes.

I obviously do not know if this is fully possible, but I am quite confident that it could work. I just need some good lucid dreamers to test this out, or anyone who may become lucid to test it out (if it is like your 1st or 2nd time, I recommend not to waste it on this)

So, any thoughts on this? I would need some people to test it and also i would appreciate any ideas on how to make this work.

I made this EXACT topic ages ago when I first joitned and got no replies! I LOVE this idea and I really think it's possible with a lot of practice.

I thought of potential benifits like
being able to say get up in the morning and eat something or get a shower which continueing your dream then just go back to bed and keep dreaming. though reaching the control to be able to do tasks like that would be pretty extreme.

Oh, goodness, I never knew, I couldn't find anything in search. Sorry bout that.

But yea, the control would be pretty hard. I mean this is a whole other step from just moving my arm. In this, it would have to be really realistic a dream, so that the rooms are shaped the same, and you would have to keep concentrating on that, while you are also trying to keep a focus on your real body, and keeping your mind on the fact that you are dreaming, so you dont loose lucidity.

But, if someone pulled it off, it would be epic.

It's cool, it's an old old topic. not like I'm offended or anything ;P I'm glad to know I'm thinking like someone!
      But, yeah. I agree.
I just had a really funny thought of someone walking through their halls while utilising this method, and loosing concentration on the reality or the dream or something and becoming non lucid, and their mind continues down the hall while their body just goes limp and slams into the floor, where they're violently awakened. you'd be so scared! lolol.

Haha, that would be funny. Or, what if someone was to be doing it, then they thought they lost control over their body, so they went to fly out the window, but it turned out that their body was still doing it.

Well you would have to become lucid during a different stage of sleep rather than the normal dreaming REM phase, otherwise you'd be paralyzed.

Yea, I was thinking about that. I don't know what stage of sleep I was in when I could control my real arm. I never thought about it before today.

this could end up being kinda dangerous, what if you thought you were somewhere you really werent and then fell down the stairs or something. i guess it would take a lot of practice, but i really dont think that its possible, but ya never know!

I've wondered about this before. I know (or at least I've heard) that sleepwalking occurs in deep sleep, but I'm not sure if you're acting out a dream or not during that time.

I think it would be easier for someone who sleepwalks to do this. It would be interesting to see if, when they're lucid, they can tell when they're sleepwalking or not. If they can't tell, that could be pretty dangerous. But then again, most sleepwalkers don't jump off buildings on a nightly basis, so it must be different from regular dreaming somehow.

You could start experimenting with something smaller than walking around, like trying to get your physical body to say something while you're in a dream. That could be pretty handy for dream recall if you set up a tape recorder; then you could just dictate the dream as it happened.

I think that you would have the best chance of doing this while napping. I don't know why this would be, but I've had a few experiences like this, and they were all at school. xD

Last year in social studies, our teacher showed us this really boring movie. Like, REALLY boring. He actually made it an assignment to stay awake. I failed.
But because I had wanted those points, and was struggling to stay awake, I instantly knew I was dreaming when I fell asleep. But I also still felt my desk. I could still hear that boring video in the background. I could even feel that my eyes were closed, even though they were open in the dream. That was the wierdest part for me. I tried to take a step, but my real leg jerked forward and, taken by surprise, I almost lost the dream. I wanted to experiment, but I didn't, aware that I was in class and it would look extremely wierd if I did. So, unable to move, I entertained myself by making cool stuff happen in front of me untill I heard the movie end, at which point I opened my eyes and awakened.

I've had a few similar experiences, but this is the best/ most detailed.
What if I told you that I am dreaming right now?
That your whole life is a lie?
That the laws of physics as you know them are incorrect?

Furthermore, what would you do if I told you I'm going to wake up as soon as you finish reading my signature?

Well, I assumed it is possible. Because surely if I can control my arm, I can control the rest of my body.

But I will try it every next time I become lucid. I'll see if I can somehow be aware of my real body, then I'll see if I can move it at all, like maybe just sit up or something, maybe get out of bed (which would be so hard because I sleep in a bunk bed with guitars and junk at the bottom)

But I would love it for other people to try it out.

      Thanks for the replies guys.

Wow!! nice one, I had never even thought to try speaking.

If this fully works, you could live a whole day like normal and be asleep while you are doing it.

I love this thread. I have been thinking about the same think recently. What synchronicity! Last night, I woke up from a dream with my blindfold and earplugs in. Wanting to be able to return to the dream easily, I got up and took a piss blindfolded with the earplugs in. It felt like I was sleepwalking almost. I had to do a lot of RC's.

Then I actually wondered about the idea of lucid sleepwalking. Being aware that you are sleepwalking. You are having a dream, your body is moving, your eyes are open, you know all these things. This would be like a self-induced hallucinogenic trip.

I am sometimes very aware of my body when I first WILD. But, it's in SP, and I sometimes twitch. If I try to move, I can't. If I focus on moving, I eventually get out of SP, and the dream fades.

Fascinating topic. I was actually going to post on it, but I am glad others are thinking about the same thing.

Well, this is the kind of shit that Derren Brown would do on TV and say that he can navigate a room blindfolded.

It's also just a cool thing.

But you would have to see the room before you could navigate it or your mind wouldn't have anything to recreate.

And yes, it is cool. It would be fun to try just to see if you could do it. I was just wondering if you'd thought of a practical application for it.

Well, yea, you would have to see the room first.

But I cannot think on anything other than entertainment.

Wow, I had always wondered if this was possible! I had wanted to test this, but the most control I've ever had while asleep is being able to mumble, and to move my hand a little.

However, my sister (not a LDer...) claims that she has control over her body when she's asleep. For example, she says that when she gets cold, she is consiously aware of it, and the other needs of her body, such as taughtness of muscles, neck cramping, etc. so when the need arises, she simply moves her body. I know that most people probably move around or pull up the covers unconsiously, but to be aware of it...that would be amazing. She also claims to be able to dream AND have this awareness of her body. I was skeptical, so I tested it. I went to her room one night, and I pulled the covers up from her feet (which would be a little harder to get to) and opened a window. The cool air started to come in, and she just pulled her feet up farther into the covers, so I took the blankets off, and moved them to the side of her bed. She distinctly said to me "That's not nice, you're such a...(edited)" and felt around for the covers, and proceeded to arrange them back over herself until she was covered. I remain unconvinced, but her experience would be interesting if it were true.

She seems to be unaware of noise though, because she cannot wake up to her alarms (she has three) and instead wakes the rest of the house.

But this is an intriguing thread...it will be interesting to follow.
      ...And then to dream...

I wonder if one can break from REM-atonia, and it would have to not become an habit, imagine your body customed to it happening, then you have a non-lucid and get heavily injured...
In the other hand, would be so amazing. What I try to do sometimes, is wake half of my body, and basically end up seeing with one eye the dream, with the other waking life, can move the half that is awake at will, but wouldn't work for anything other than talking and reaching for things.

Good point Walms, it would be bad if you did this awhile not lucid. Then again, it could just be like sleepwalking.

And that's cool. Can you re-enter the dream after that?
