My real dad did once. A couple of guys followed him home from a bar and were pounding on his patio door. Trying to get in or something, I don't know. He got his shotgun and fired right through the door, curtains still closed. Killed one, the other ran. I wasn't there, it was after the parents divorced. He did some prison time for it, of course. He sat there and waited for the police to arrive. He is gone now as well, a victim of his own drinking.
