      The fall of humanity

I've tried to find the good in human beings, but I cannot deny the truth which keeps prying over the horizon. We are disgusting creatures. Look at this world. Look at the senseless banter on celebrity culture and god damn wars and rebellions every other fucking year. What is wrong with us? Adults tell children to behave a certain way yet act in a completely different way. Everyones so full of shit, born and raised by hypocrites (Green day song) Enough is ENOUGH! I'm sick of living in this god damn society. WE ARE INSANE! We all know it's a god damn pathetic excuse for a civilization yet we go along with it. "That's just the way it is" "Oh you're only cynical because you're not successful" "It's not that bad, good people do exist, keep faith" "Hey we got it good compared to others" FRIGGIN excuses. I for one would gladly rebel if only I knew how. We as a species need to come together, we need to sacrifice our insatiable need for technology and luxury for a decade or two to rebuild our society. But I know human greed will not allow this to happen, human ignorance will keep fueling wars and hate. The human species.....given everything..... infinite potential squandered like a rich kid who choses to kill someone and end their life in prison. We are caged, unable to take the next step. George Carlin said it best "I'm divorced from it now" I'm divorced from it all now, the potential is lost, we have wasted our potential.
There is no emotion...There is peace. There is no ignorance... There is knowledge. There is no passion... There is serenity. There is no chaos... There is harmony. There is no death... There is the force.
"I give my life, not for honor but for you. In my time there'll be no one else..Crime, it's the way I fly to you, I'm still in a dream snake eater"
We enter this world alone, and leave this world alone whatever happens in between is a gift

You're certainly wasting it here. Anyways, looking at this seriously I see no problem with discussing celebrity culture, any more than I see with discussing video games or even lucid dreaming. Might not be for you, but who really cares? Wars are certainly unfortunate events, but can do more good than harm in some cases. And I'm loving how you hate rebellions, but would gladly start your own. Don't really see a problem with pursuing technology and luxury, either. Of course, if you hate society so much, you could always be a hermit.

      Wait, this is senseless banter.

Thanks for being a condescending prick. My hate for humanity is reinforced. And I tried to imply that the rebellions do nothing as we turn a blind eye to them every time they happen, sorry for not making that clear.

I thought the cheeky face and later acknowledgement of this being in senseless banter made it pretty obvious I wasn't being entirely serious with that remark. Oh, well. I still stand by my point. Society isn't nearly as bad as you're making it out to be. And my question still stands, if you hate this all so much, why not become a hermit and live away from society? And why is pursuing technology and advancement (which may be the reason most of us are even alive and healthy) necessarily bad? Or, indeed, luxury?

We are still kind of primitive when it comes to working together and getting along, but a whole lot of humans have done a great deal of impressive stuff with technology, math, science, and art. There is a lot of bad in the world, but there is a lot of good in the world. Always remember that there are more people in the world than you could keep up with who would risk their lives to save yours.

I believe that every living being wants happiness, even if it is only for one self in many cases. But why there is so much bad stuff going on around the world. I think it's because not to many understand or have learned in wich way to behave, to make this into a better place. There will probably always be bad events effecting everyone by other "bad minded" people or natural causes. But one of the most important freedoms one have, is to be able to make a choice. (within ones own span of knowledge, of course)

Lets take an extream example of a serial killer. We could all in here probably agree that there is something wrong with how such a persons mind is woking(or not working). I've been watching some documenteries about serial killers. And one thing those serial killers have in common very often, is that they had very little love in their life, or no love. I do by no means, defending the horrible thing that these people have been doing though. But this is merely to explain that pure understanding is also a good way to chose the right way, wich can lead to happiness if that is what one is going for.

The biggest problem that I think is going on around the world today, is the constant reminder that we have to fight for everything. That is such a counterproductive way to do things in the most cases really. But, understanding is of course hard, so fighting is the easiest thing to understand for anyone.

Here is a little example of the power of understanding a.k.a forgivness, that only the few toughest/strongest people on the planet is able to handle. An Unforgettable Act of Forgiveness in Court - by the Father of a Murder Victim - YouTube It's only one minute video, but shows how to really "fight" evil/hate.

Remember to never stop developing your love and understanding.

The bystander effect kind of disproves that people would help you or try to save you in a crisis.

I know what you talking about, and I think that probably most people have been a bystander in some situation when one could act. Since poeple in general dont want to be seen as some kind of outsider that dosn't follow the act of everyone else. Then this type of non acting behaviour is born out of fear. And the fear is to break your rutine and maybe help someone who fell or dropt something. It's probably a very irrational fear, but irrational fears are often very complexed as well. Just watch animals, they often go togheter in groups. Like birds or small fishes. Maybe this is kind of inherited in mankind too, in a certain degree. Strong minded people often react if something happens. And people with a more sensitive or weaker mind, tend to not break out from their daily habbits when something unexpected happens.

I believe that every person have the ability to "see" but in various degrees. Maybe it will never happen to a lot of people, but to many it will in the end I believe. Here some more boost for the mankind if you feel to watch it. Enjoy Inspirational Video - There are Still Good People in the World - YouTube

That's a matter of bad luck. People come out of crowds to help people all the time.

You are not alone. I have little faith for the world through the next few hundred years.

Human's aren't horrible creatures on purpose, we just don't have the ability to properly understand anything outside of our daily lives.
People where made with survival in mind. If someone hands you food, the instinctive decision would be to take it.

Only those fortunate enough to be able to cultivate conscious inhibition can break out the circle. Someone who is never taught to think of their actions beyond what they can directly interact with will live in ignorance.

The best we can do in this day is to teach kids critical thinking, but I can't see that happening for another few decades.

Look, I may be young, but some days I look at my classmates. Then I look at society.

Then I look at humanity, and think "What is wrong with us? We used to be so civilized"

      I wan't to do something, but know I can't.

But always remember, you're the one who notices these things and all those other people, humanity itself, is a ignorant as a baby.

Yes, most of humanity is living in a blissful ignorance of the atrocities of our modern world- but a pessimistic view in my opinion- is just as bad. What we have to realize is that every occurrence in this world carries not a positive nor negative 'connotation' so to speak. That aspect of right and wrong is derived solely from our own perception. The unfortunate part- just so happens to be that most of the 'ignorant' and 'materialistic' and 'egocentric' values are shared by the majority of our society- especially the youth. I myself am still in high school, and witness it firsthand every day. But I can't say I don't have hope. People are just doing what makes them happy in the moment, and dutchraptor is right, critical thinking needs to be prioritized. But unfortunately it's not. So we can doubt humanity, and think of the existence of a human ego as nothing more than a mere hiccup in evolution... Or we can walk outside, smell the flowers, and spread the message of love and value of existence, and live in this world happily because people don't watch the Kardashian's so that people like you and I have to suffer- they watch it because they like it. And while I think it's pure shit- that's fine by me

      just my 2 cents.

"There is good and bad in everyone." - Paul McCartney

I almost completely agree with that, but some people have no good in them at all. Everybody has some degree of bad in them. Some people are more good than bad, and some are more bad than good. Most people have at least a bit of good in them, but there are full blown sociopaths out there who have no capacity for empathy or guilt, but they are only about 1% of the population.

The bystander effect is mainly a result of people being cowards. That is a huge factor in society. So is ignorance.

I wonder if the executives of Monsanto feel the same way and that's why they're trying to destroy humanity.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

When was this? I find it personally bothersome that people look at the world today, in all its rights and wrongs, and believe fully in the idea that it were ever any better than it is now. Certain aspects of life have changed, certainly, however on a whole, things are better now than they ever have been, or at least just as good as they ever were. Belief otherwise is a perfect example of the human propensity to glorify and revel in the past; nostalgia is a powerful, yet natural human behavior. People have been saying "what is the world coming to nowadays" since the dawn of history. We are no exception.

On the subject of how much society and other people suck, this is true. What is also true is that it will likely not change within our lifetime and very possibly it never will. It may continue to be this way until the human race as we know it goes extinct, whether it be by our destruction or our evolution. The only thing you can do about it is to quit thinking about things on such a global scale. Unless it specifically pertains to you, for whatever reason that may be (work, study, etc.), you can only cope by ignoring it. Focus instead on your personal life, your family, your friends, the adventures you have, the experiences you have the good fortune to partake in. Let's face it, are things ever going to get better otherwise? Do yourself the favor of separating yourself from the negativity you are not only imparting on yourself, but those that interact with you. Life will be better, friend.

By the way, I'm speaking not just to the OP, but pretty much everyone in general.
