      Insomnia Help

I realize threads similar to this have been created, yet from looking at some i'm yet to really find useful advice, despite lots of great and helpful posts.

I've struggled with insomnia for as long as i remember and the only real cure i've found is marijuana, yet this effects my ability to recall dreams somewhat, therefore, i only really use it in extreme cases. However insomnia is just as much of a hindrance to my dreaming.

I'm not stressed or anxious about anything yet, i just can't switch off at night.

Has anyone else with really bad insomnia found a working cure or at least a mental exercise that helps you drift off?

Hopefully this can turn into a general advice thread and everyone can find something that works for them.

      Thanks in advance.

I used to have insomnia for years, ie. 2 hours of sleep on a bad night, 4 hours of sleep on a good night with some nights having no sleep at all. Then I got into distilled waters and urine therapy and now I sleep maybe too much lol but I love it. I get like 15-17 hours of sleep a night and I fall asleep when I go to bed within 5 minutes. I suggest checking out Andrew Norton Webber videos on youtube. This one is my favorite Andrew Norton Webber With Vinny Eastwood - Distilled Water Is The Fountain Of Youth [10/16/2013] - YouTube

When I was younger it would take me HOURS to fall asleep I just could not switch off. Now that I am older I still have trouble every once in awhile (when I am super stressed)and like once a month I will take a sleeping pill,BUT last year I went through so much hell I was lucky to fall asleep for an hour so instead of turning to pills some things that helped me and I know it may sound silly but was working out, washing my sheets every other night with a strong softer (the smell soothes me), taking a hot bathe to relax me,chamomile tea and reading a book or bible along with a prayer! BUT when I am in bed and there are like 1000 things running through my mind I force myself to think about this imaginary world that I have made up instead of all my troubles here in the real world. It really helps me escape and I drift off into sleep still thinking about my imaginary world I even LD sometimes about it and the people in it! hope this helps!

So Narwhal seems to represent an extreme case of Insomnia. From what I understand Urine therapy and drinking Distilled water is a way of cleansing the body from toxins. As a result, she can now sleep indefinitely every night. (Hope you don't mind if i'm usign you as an anecdotal case study here )

That sounds like pretty good results to me. Now, I woulden't recommend drinking Urine or Distilled water as there is tons and tons of evidence that this can harm you. But there are other ways of cleansing the body. Which are also not for long-time use. Juicing, fasting are one of those. Exercise is a good way to cleanse afaik. Sweat lodges. Cold showers. You name it.

Tbh, some weed is pretty good advice for when you really need rest. I honestly think that recall is a different problem than simply marihuana. I personally think that for myself, lack of rest is the main issue for bad dream recall.

But generally, i'm with LCS. I like the idea of n imaginary world. Fun stuff to think about while falling asleep. It sometimes helps to read a book to occupy myself and I find myself super sleepy in no-time.

Good luck dreaming, and sleep tight.

Yeah I'm guessing it's the extra melatonin I'm getting from my morning urine, maybe some other factors as well
I don't see how distilled water can harm you, but surely urine can if you have kidney disease or are on medications which are disclaimers in most of Andrew Norton Webber's videos.
Our saliva we swallow all day is distilled liquid, the water in fruits is distilled liquid, the rain is distilled liquid (which I don't recommend drinking unless filtered as air pollution dirties the rain water), The amniotic fluid we swam, swallowed, and breathed for about nine months in our mothers womb mostly consists of urine, and of course urine being a distilled liquid.
I could be wrong but usually the tons of evidence against distilled waters come from the Dr. Mercola/WHO article stating how distilled water is slightly acidic, that is true and it has an alkalizing effect on the body just as adding a squeeze of lemon or lime (acidic fruits) to your water does, thus helping maintain the body at a healthy pH of 7.1-7.5 if one would like. The article brings up the leaching of minerals, yes distilled water does this but they fail to tell you that distilled water only leaches inorganic minerals that the body can not use as it is magnetically attracted to the distilled water, it can not and never will leach organic minerals from your body. Here is a link to what Doctors and experts have to say about Distilled waters, they cover the rest of what that article claims as true to be false. Doctors and Experts | aquariusthewaterbearer
Juicing is a good source of distilled water, and Limmy if you do decide to do a water fast (I'm assuming Dthoughts meant water fast, this may or not be the case for juice fasting) make sure your kidneys are healthy enough perhaps at a doctors, because water fasting could be too hard on your kidneys if you have CKD. If you're kidney's are up to it, then it's an excellent recommendation from Dthoughts, as well as exercise. I didn't even think of that one. I definitely need to exercise more

At the beginning of the year I was involved in a worker compensation case and during a few months of that I got only three days of sleep and asked the doctor to help me out. He diagnosed me with insomnia and prescribed me trazadone. It helped and I also saw a therapist who recommended closing the case. I was taking small amounts of melatonin when I needed it(not every night) but now I hardly use anything to help me sleep.
