-are you solidifying the dream? focus on touching things and grounding yourself in the dream reality before doing other stuff
-lucidity isnt a matter of luck (well maybe a bit of it is...) its practice and determination

-you also said you had creepy dreams and didnt want to have more... do you see where this could set you up for failure?
