Professional WILDers or not: How can I keep my anchor in the back of my mind?

It's really hard to. I find my mind wandering and stuff; while focusing on my anchor. But then I always (i mean ALWAYS) accidentally check to see if my anchor is still there. Like if it's a fan; I stop and listen a minute. Do you know what I'm talking about?

The question is.. HOW can I keep the anchor in the back of my mind?

what i do is i just try not to forget about it. for example, if my thoughts start to change and i wander about other things i just remember my anchor immediately and try not to fall asleep.

      What is an anchor?
I meditate on my mind and my breath and do visualizations to WILD.

I believe an "anchor" is something in the real world that you focus your mind on while WILD'ing so as to keep your thoughts in one place and remain aware. For example, a constant noise, or an item in your hand. I am recalling this from a brief glimpse of a tutorial I skimmed from who knows how long ago, so I could be a bit off.

I can't say that I am an experienced WILD'er, nor am I all that familiar with using anchors. However, perhaps you could use it as a focal point rather than setting it in the back of your mind. For example, with certain mediation/hypnosis tapes you attempt to focus on the voice and completely forget about your surroundings, including your own body. You could try something similar with your anchor perhaps? Anyway, just an idea as I am not that familiar with this concept. Either way, I wish you luck.

Yea, that's what an anchor is. Well.. if some of you don't use anchors, what do you use?

I don't like forcing thoughts. I let my mind wander never focusing into a one thing too long. I am aware though what I am thinking, but I never fixate. Some of you may know this as so called River meditation. ( goes with many names, I think) This way you don't fall asleep. After a while you can start turning those wandering thoughts into visualisations/sounds/vibrations. Then when the time is right, you can enter a dream. Breathing technique is crucial with the whole process, naturally.

      That's how I roll anyways.
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.
