Mini-Tut: Getting into a dream after reaching Sleep Paralysis

Getting into a Dream after reaching Sleep Paralysis

Alright, so I've seen that many people still have trouble with getting into a dream after reaching sleep paralysis. You get so close, but then you have no idea what to do once in this state. I think this clueless on what action to take is the only thing preventing many of us from achieving our goals.

      Creativity

Creativity is very important in getting into a dream after hitting sleep paralysis; creativity is, overall, an important aspect in lucid dreaming as a whole (unless of course you plan on having boring dreams). I can't stress enough how important creativity and imagination are.

During sleep paralysis (herein simplified as the acronym "SP"), you are in somewhat of a half-state of wakefulness. Your mind is awake, but your body is not. Along with this, you can experience (see, feel, hear, etc.) things that aren't actually there. Why, then, can we not influence this experience ourselves? Well, quite simply, we can.

Here is an example of a method I use to get into dreams after reaching SP:

As I am lying in my bed (or whatever piece of furniture I am sleeping on), I imagine that there is a vortex either by my feet, or by my head. I know that this vortex is there. I am promptly sucked up by this vortex. Et voila! I am in a dream! This is a technique I've used since I first started reaching sleep paralysis. It happened automatically the first time, but since then I've had to prompt it myself. This isn't exactly bad, however—I would say that my success rate of getting from SP to a dream is fairly solid (~85% chance I get in a dream). I realize this sounds very simple, but that's the beauty of it: it is.

You can try using my method yourself, but if it doesn't work for you, you can try all kinds of things (just use your imagination!). For example, you could imagine the bed you are sleeping on is actually a trap door that suddenly folds in as you realize it. Once you finish falling, you may find yourself in a WILD! Or, maybe your bed itself begins rocketing through space incredibly fast and you simply rip through the threshold that way. Personalize your method, make it your own! As long as you are creative and use your imagination, you will be able to find yourself in WILDs after reaching SP in no time.

Very nice mini-tut, this should help some people. I like the vortex idea because it creates a physical sensation, I'll definitely try that sometime.

I haven't done many WILDs lately, but I used a technique where I imagine my room as a teleportation center, not connected to the rest of my house. When I "false awaken" in my room and then RC, I can walk out the door and be in a completely different scene.

I know I've only got two likes so far, but thanks for the positive feedback. I wasn't sure if I would just be spouting information everyone already knew or what, lol. It was just something I thought about today when reading through the WILD section here, so I thought I'd share in hopes of helping at least someone.

This is excellent! How long generally do you guys experience SP before you are taken into a dream? The longest I hit full SP for was about 30seconds-1min, before I lost it after thinking too much wanting to get into a dream and trying to control my breathing/heartrate. This vortex method sounds like it'll work instantly

Using the vortex, usually not more than 10 to 15 seconds. The longest I've been in SP before it went away was like a minute/ a minute and a half.

Again, thanks for all the great comments!

      A question, good sir!
Do you usually SP early in the night when you're about to go to sleep, or generally after a nap and trying to WILD in the middle of the night?

I've never gotten SP before going to sleep, always after. Usually 4 or 5 hours after I go to sleep is a good enough time, but sometimes later than that works just as well. Assuming I go to bed at a decent time (10:30pm-11:30pm), the best time is usually around 3 or 3:30 am. However, I have gotten SP a few times around 8 or 9 am, sometimes not even trying.

Just so everyone knows, as I may have been a bit misleading in my original post, I am really only proficient in getting into dreams after reaching SP. Reaching SP, on the other hand, is something I'm just okay at, or was anyway. Due to some happenings going on for the past year, I haven't really put any effort into LDing much at all. I also value smoking marijuana a lot because of its effect on my mood and attitude towards others, so I have next to no recall. When it comes right down to it, I choose weed over LDing for the time being.

The best tips I have when it comes to reaching SP are to WBTB, then either use Sythix's reverse blinking method, or something else that worked well for me, was to continue to relax on my back for a while, then when feeling like I was getting very sleepy, I would roll onto my side and loosely concentrate on some form of background noise. For background noise you can use just about anything, but it needs to be somewhat constant and you can't pay too much attention to it or you'll just stay awake. White noise from a radio turned down low might be easiest as it is always constant and you can't concentrate on it too much unless it's annoying you or something. But I've even used people's voices before. I've used my dad's voice (he was talking to me but I wasn't paying attention) before and it worked, and I tried the same thing with my sister and it also worked. Just a note, when I WBTB, I never get up from bed. It may work better for some to do so if you fall asleep easily, but I always just continue to lie down where I am and not move much from the position I woke up in. I feel as though it helps me keep in the state of mind I am in, which aids in getting WILDs and SP. Moving your muscles causes your brain to release chemicals that cause you to wake up, and I have a hard time going back to sleep if I get up as a result.

I tried this method today, during a nap. I put on my sleeping mask and put in ear plugs. I relaxed on my back counting until I hit illogical thoughts, and rolled over onto my side. I haven't been feeling SP when I'm on my side, but it's how I normally sleep, but with the earplugs in, I could hear my hearing shift indicating SP when my heart beat went from loud and harsh to deep and soft. I then made sure I stayed relaxed and aware to try and induce some dream scenes. I ended up falling in and out of hallucinations/dream scenes about 4 times over an hour, but at no point did I actually WILD fully. I did realise I was in my dream body at one point, and jumped back to waking reality when I gained awareness. I'm sure I'm getting close, but when I focus on the vortex I don't seem to be pulled anywhere

Glad i have just seen this thread as i have problems also when it comes to FA's and i'm stuck in my room with no way out or i'm in that SP state where things are there and as much as i try to keep the fear in me to a minimum sometimes it has a habit of freaking me out again sometimes, so next time that happens i'll think of my bed as a flying machine that will take me out to an nice island that i always imagine..thanks alot snoop
