      Head not paralyzed?

I woke up from a dream today and instantly got into SP. but for some reason, my head was nor paralyzed. Looking back on all my WILD attempts this seems to be the case. I'm currently blaming it on my eyes sometimes flickering, but what would you guys do in this situation?

Eyes do not become paralyzed during SP, hence the term rapid eye movement (REM). But if you mean that you could move your head around? or open your mouth? could you be more specific?

I mean my head did not feel SP. At first I thought it was normal, but when I tested it I found I could move my neck and anything above it with ease, unlike the rest of my body.

Hmm...when you moved your head around did the paralysis break from the rest of your body?

Typically the head is the last to become paralyzed in sleep paralysis. Sometimes people are still able to move their head around. It's normal. I do think, however, that you moving your head and neck around is what probably halted the process at your neck level.

No, it was still with the rest of my body.

That might be it. The only thing though was that in another try it never got paralyzed even after an hour.

Yeah, like Jeff said, the head is generally one of the last things to become paralyzed. Limbs --> body ---> head (generally). It does seem odd that your body was paralyzed for an hour while your head was not. Of course, it is possible that your head became paralyzed at some point during this time, but you didn't actually feel it. To be honest though, don't even worry about what is or isn't paralyzed. Worrying about/thinking about why your head isn't paralyzed can halt your progress. Just relax and let the paralysis do whatever as you continue to strive toward sleep. Just carry on with the WILD technique you are using and act as if your head actually is paralyzed.
