Question Getting somewhere. Yet feeling far.

Okay guys, I need your help.
Today was my day to try out a nap WILD. My experience was semi successful so I could tell that I was close but I don't know what I was doing wrong. I felt Sleep Paralysis and passively observed that then put it in the back of my mind. I tried to focus on just falling asleep so I could experience some hypnogogic images. I think that I saw some colors but they faded. ALSO. While laying there I felt like I had semi adventures that were very faded visually. For example, I had a thought of me DJ'ing and I could see things but I could still feel myself very much in my bed. More so than the dream. If this makes sense, I would like some help if anyone could be kind enough.

Well I'm in the same spot as you. Joined last month, fiddled and messed around with some methods, not much has happened. I sorta had a lucid, or false awakening, but it was very very short. I am concentrating on one method, but I do feel very far away from my goal, even if I am making progress.

My advice, stick with one method that on the first night seemed to work in any way. Just pick the best one for you, and stick with it. It's better than flailing around them all and getting nowhere. Make solid progress and you will get a proper one.

Also, keep up your dream journal, and try not to miss a single day/night of practice.

Man, how many times have I been there?
You were just about there, but I think you were focussing on it too hard.
When you are able to ACTUALLY SEE things, you are ready. Don't check to see if you can still feel your bed, because then you will.
When you see these objects, just look around you, and let it happen.
      Let it happen.

For me, WILDs never really worked. I either didn't get to the seeing shit stage, or if I did, they would be weak and I could never forget the feeling of my bed.

I would recommend just going for Reality checks. Do those LIKE A BOSS all day for as long and as often as you can. Do them when you suddenly remember to do them. Eventually, you will suddenly remember to do them in a dream, and bam, you are lucid.
Just make sure you question reality each time, and to actually think each time, don't just go through the motions.

The problem is, I did see things. A kind of scene. But the problem is that I couldn't tell if I generated them or my mind did(unintentionally I mean.) I didn't know if I could go into my own dream scene I manifested.

Do you use MILD? That seems like the method you are talking about with reality checks during the day. How long did it take for them to pass into a dream(the wondering if you are dreaming). Any tips on how to remember to do them frequently?

It sounds like you were doing everything right. I think I can relate to the description you gave. Something similar happens to me when I take certain supplements. Try to expand any brief fantasies or dreamlets you experience, even if they don't feel fully formed. Imagine interacting with whatever scenario is going on in your mind. Really try to engage with the dream physically.

Much of this is just first hand experience. Keep trying, and it will happen.

I'm in the same boat as you, when I'm trying to WILD I get the images in my head, more than 'behind my eyelids'. I think just persist with it and figure out what works for you, thats what I'm trying

EDIT: I just found a wonderful tutorial for VILD written back in 2007, the reference he makes to your hand and arm make a lot of sense to me, I'd recommend giving it a try

Could you ACTUALLY SEE things? No pretending. No stretching the truth. You should ACTUALLY see them. If you saw objects, in full color, and full detail, and it wasn't your imagination, then you were ready. DON'T QUESTION WHETHER YOU CAN ENTER or not. I can't stress it enough. The moment you ask the question, you can lose it. If you can ACTUALLY SEE objects, just do it. Finalize the WILD by looking around, or interacting with the objects. Look to see what the objects are sitting on, or pick them up.
I have had trouble picking up one of the objects before I manifested the ability to do so (like an ARM) though.

I meant WILD before, and I suggested R.C.s and DILD. But whatever works for you really. You can take suggestions all day long, but if it doesn't work for YOU, then it may as well be useless for everyone.

Go for that VILD thing. If it looks good, do it. If it fails straight away, keep at it. Make an effort. If nothing then, give up, it's not for you.

If Arby's VILD guide sounds like it takes too much brain power, try using a memory instead of a visualization. Instead of creating something from scratch, try using a recent and easy to remember memory.

I read Arby's guide and thought 'How am I supposed to do all this while trying to slip into lower states of consciousness?'. That said, my powers of visualisation do seem to increase while in the hypnagogic state.
