      "Daydreamed" myself into LD?

Last Friday, I woke up at 5 (not deliberately) and wrote my dream down into my dream journal. I then tried to fall asleep again, so I daydreamed about random things until it seemed very vivid, and then I realized that the scenery was now a dream (so I was lucid).
I have read in WILD tutorials that hypnogogic imagery is not supposed to be consciously created, and that one should passively observe the imagery that is produced from the unconscious or something. Yet in my lucid dream, I did exactly was I was told not to do and I went into the dream.
So why and how did this work?
This was my first lucid dream btw.

V-WILD is exactly what you performed. You visualize/incubate a dream scene as you are dozing off. Congrats!

How difficult is it to perform a V-WILD? Compared to good old regular WILD (already bloody difficult)

Well, its different for everyone. For me, I have more trouble performing a V-WILD than a regular WILD. I have ran into many dreamers who like V-WILD better than a regular WILD though. You may just have to give it a shot and see how it goes.

I've read a few tutorials on the web that say you can induce hypnagogia like Jeff's free falling technique and then visualise into a dream, skipping sleep paralysis. Considering the trouble I've been having getting into SP (once I felt like I was transitioning before I got remotely near full SP) I think it would be good for me to try out. There just aren't as many guides as the overwhelming amount on WIDing.

Yeah, definitely go for it. I would suggest you try out what you think would work properly. Just perform your WILD and allow your mind to wander. Try to see every thought that come into mind and once you actually start visualizing your thoughts, try to keep a specific thought running and build a dream scene. Maybe you will really get the hang of it and become the author of the much needed V-WILD tutorial .

Haha, I can only hope I have had some decent progress the last few nights, I'm now doing a combination of Free-falling, your technique and V-WILD. As in, rather than regain focus once the 'chaos' thoughts begin I just relax and let the thoughts develop into hypnagogia, like you I find that all the 'concentration' methods like focusing on your breathing just keep me from sleep. Once the hypnagogia gets going I visualise some tactile imagery and then I visualise walking around my room trying to include as many senses as possible.

As for the much needed V-WILD tutorial http://www.dreamviews.com/f12/how-vi...ctively-40861/ this is a fantastic but slightly overwhelming approach, but I think a lot of would-be WILDers could find it useful
