      Question Sleep paralysis...without paralysis?!

Is it possible that some people can't get a regular sleep paralysis, for example sleepwalkers?
I'm asking this because I was laying in my bed for an hour or so, I thought that I finally achieved SP, but to my disappointment I could still move. I counted my breaths for a while, up to 100 and then I started over. When I got the part when the hypnagogic imagery kicked in I just relaxed and observed the shapes, then as I was starting to see dreamlike sceneries my body, which already felt really heavy, like something was squashing me into the mattress, started to vibrate from head to toe, it was really intense. As the vibrations wore of I decided that I'll open my eyes, I was curious from reading other people's SP experiences, but all I could see was my regular bedroom and I could easily move too.
So what was this? If not SP, was I at least getting close?

sounds to me like you might have actually been dreaming when you saw your room :p I can't tell for sure if it really was SP, but for me, I used to get SP and then after, I could move and I would be in my room and think I was awake, But once you do a reality check, you realize that your actually dreaming. You just couldnt tell because it feels so much like real life haha. Next time it happens for you, wait until the vibrations ware off again, and try a reality check. I do the nose plug reality check, it always works I'm sure you'll get it soon your really close.

Too bad I didn't think about that at the time, I just got really discouraged, rolled over and went to sleep. But I'm not sure my room could have been a dream, everything felt normal, but if it is supposed too... Maybe I WAS dreaming, the SP really felt like one, next time I'll do a reality check then

You shouldn't use SP as a goal. Sure, mark it off as something that is a milepost, but don't aim for it. If anything, you should try and ignore it. Aim to fall asleep, since that's what you're actually trying to do!

Agreed with above post, SP isn't the end-all, be-all of WILD experiences. I have had WILDs without noticing any SP.

Some people seem a bit more predisposed to it than others. I have experienced it but I don't experience it every time.

Either way, sleep is when you dream. Get some sleep!

hmm Im curious about having a WILD without SP. Every WILD I've ever had (which is pretty much all of my lucids ever) I get SP, then go to the dream from there. But sometimes I am fully aware and feel like I'm dreaming and kind of force SP to come by thinking about it. Next time I feel like I'm already asleep, I'm gonna try to just get up and see if I'm dreaming without thinking about SP. Hopefully I can do it

My guess is that you're thinking far too much to fall asleep into a WILD. I know because I've been there

I have also never been able to do WILD without SP. For me this is completely impossible. But everyone's different I guess.

Why did you give up? It sounds like you were just about to enter a dream.

I don't always feel sleep paralysis. Every WILD is different, for me. Sometimes I get the stereotypical sleep paralysis, other times I just pop into a dream. Sometimes I just hang out with some crazy hypnagogic hallucinations for five or ten minutes before a dream starts. Just be prepared for anything, and whatever you do, do not give up. It is tempting to think you messed something up when things don't go according to plan. They never go according to plan. Be persistent.

I think I almost WILDed yesterday afternoon. This time I didn't experience anything close to SP. I just laid still, counted my breaths and meanwhile I let my thoughts wonder, got to the HI part surprisingly fast even though I was sleepy before and like in a dream, I just found myself doing stuff round the house. It all felt rather foggy and weird, of course as I realized that in reality I'm still on the bed with my eyes closed, I immediately became too aware, I just popped out of it and couldn't drift this close to sleep anymore.

Was that the moment when you are supposed to somehow enter a dream?
