      How long until SP?

How long does it take you to reach SP when you try a WILD? Yesterday I layed in bed for about 30 minutes but no sp. Im going to try again tonight since I heard people say it takes them about 40 minutes to get there.
I was so much older then, I'm younger then that now.

10 - 15 mins, you must be doing something wrong, are you staying completely still.
If you are doing it on your side, then you might not feel it.

I second what Arch said, it's the same for me.

During afternoon naps when I'm tired, SP can set in much more quickly,
but during WBTB 10 - 15 mins sounds about right.
      Dreams are simple.
It's the painfully simple things the human mind cannot comprehend.
After all your mind is trained to understand the complexity of the waking world,
not the simplicity of the dream world.

The two best times to WILD are in the middle of the night after 4-6 hours of sleep, or during a nap in the middle of the day, 4-6 hours after waking up. If you're trying at any other times, it can take a long, long time to enter SP because you're not in REM (and the dream you enter will probably be fuzzy and unstable) - perhaps that's why it took so long?

Anyways, there isn't a "set" amount of time it takes to get to SP; it all depends on how much you relax. If you take your time relaxing, it can take a good half hour (I spent that much time getting to SP for a good chunk of my WILDs), but if you can relax fast and deeply, you can get it in a matter of minutes. Going back to what I said above, if you change the time you attempt to WILD, you can find yourself entering SP slower or more quickly.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Its different for everybody I wouldn't worry about how long the SP takes, as long as you relax, become an observer and don't engage your thoughts or get involved with them you will hit SP. Its more about getting the timing of the wake up right. You need to be waking up from REM sleep, so aim for your REM cycles.

How many hours of sleep had you gotten before you attempted the WILD?

Simply because you can breathe, doesn't mean your alive, or that you really live....

i set the alarm to wake me up 5 hours after i fall asleep which is usually before 11:00. Sometimes i wake up on my own at 3:30 without an alarm clock. I beleive this is the time of a REM cycle. So I'll set the alarm clock to around there even though it hasn't been a full 5 hours. I lay completely still when i try a wild but from what nito said it might be because i engage my thoughts.
So Tonight I will try a Wild again. I will change my wake up time and not engage to many thoughts. Thanks for the info.

I've only tried two times but for me during naps it takes me about 15 - 20 minutes but if i just wake up after sleeping for a while it only takes about 5 minutes...
