Post WILD advices and suggestiones needed

Hey ya guys , I'll first explain why I discard DILDs as my way of lucid dreaming. First of all , I have 2 say that 80% or 90% of my experiences in Lucid dreaming have been with spontaneously DILDs , and when I say spontaneously I remark that as the problem, at whole.
I know I should do reality checks , a dreaming diary , and all this stuff to improve my capacity to actually realize in a dream that ''i'm dreaming'' , but I tried this a few so long ago and I only achieved 1 or 2 lucids every 2 or 3 weeks in the last hour/half an hour of the last reem period , in conclusion : a big shit . Otherwhise , I know that WILDs are induced from the awaken state , and that there's no necessity to do those reality checks, dreams diary , etc. to achieve lucid dreaming this way . Also , I find too much interesting and attractive to ''depend on'' myself to have a lucid directly fro the awaken state instead of having to have a normal dream , and realize inside it that i'm dreaming . My problem is that always, when I try WILDs , I have the same problem ; as much as I try to relax and concentrate in nothing ( discard my thoughts and try to put my mind in white) much more difficult I find to sleep (in occasions I have been 2 or 3 hours in bed not being able to sleep) . I arrived to the conclusion that this stage (from the awaken state to the ''vibrations'' and alpha state of mind which is necessary to do a wild ) has to be very natural , for saying in some way , has to be effortlessly , and as much I try to do some technique , concentrate , or whatever , i'm complicating this natural procedure , and when u arrive to the point to the hipnagogic images and all the stuff , is when u have to contract in and enter the dream. With all this saied , I have 2 pray u , WILDs masters (people in this forum who REALLY is used to have and can have WILDs when they want xD) , to tell me some tips , ways , or whatever which can be useful to me in order to have a WILD (with all the letters) and not the 10 sec DILDs i'm used to have, and also to get the motivation I need to carry on with the lucid dreams topic , because i think is unavoidable to loss motivation when u have tried every night in 3 weeks to have a lucid and u haven't been ''lucky'' . Thank u in advance, and i'm waiting for answers

      pd. thanks to the mods

      Hey Genzor,

When I was starting out, I too was amazed with this WILD technique. It seemed so simple, yet so hard.

I struggled with WILDing for a very long time, and I persued it 'till I had mastered the technique.

As much as you may disregard a dream journal, and reality checks, they are in fact a necessity.
Think of it this way, you could have tried a WILD last night, per say, and successfully had a lucid dream. However, you have woken up the next morning with no memory of your past dream. Therefore, you must practice dream recall. I think you see it's importance.

Reality checks should be put in use in ANY case of lucid dreaming. To stabilize the dream you are to perform different reality checks and increase the clarity. You can find out different techniques and such in the archived tutorial portion of the forum.

      Now, to help you WILD.

First off, your going to want to set an alarm 5-6 hours after you go to sleep. Say you go to sleep at 10 pm. Set an alarm at 3-4 AM, and get up at this point.

You should get up, go to the bathroom, stretch, and do whatever for approximately 5 minutes.

At this point, your body should want to get back to bed. Get into your most comfortable sleeping position (make sure you are on your back) and do whatever is necessary to be comfortable and relaxed.

As you close your eyes, think about what you will do in the morning, and ponder different things. As you feel tiredness flood through your body, begin counting your breaths.

Breathe in, breathe out = 1

Do not control your thoughts other than the counting. Your subconscious will be thinking of random things as you fall asleep, dont ponder a thought for too long and concentrate on counting.

Around 50-60 counts, your breathing may sound different. I cannot stress the importance of NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO THESE THINGS. Continue counting.

Around 100 you may see different fractals floating around in your eye lids. Do not focus on this.

Continue counting until your body seems weightless, and you receive a sinking feeling. You should feel slight to moderate vibrations and hear light buzzing noises.

Don't worry, your body is going to sleep. DISREGARD EVERYTHING

You will feel as if you are being sucked into a tunnel, and your body will feel like a vortex. Relax and stay calm. Let yourself breath, don't constrict or control your current breathing pattern.

If you have gotten past this point and have not woken yourself up, you are a step ahead.

At this point, is where I believe your problem lies.

      Visualize something, anything you want.

We will use an apple as an example. Think of an apple, and then think of the leaves of the apple, branching out into a tree, and then develop a whole scene taking baby steps. The tree to the root, to the grass, to the field, to the sky.

And before you know it, you will be conscious of your dream.

At this point I recommend you do reality checks (my favorite is the nose-plug; if you are not familiar with it, you plug your nose and try to breathe through it. If you can, it is an accomplishment!)

Stabilize your dream by observing your body, you may have more than 5 fingers and look abnormal. That is normal. When the dream begins to get hazy, shout clarity and repeat above steps.

Do whatever your heart desires, friend.

If there are any questions, concerns, I would be glad to clear things up.

      (Im back!) ~Clearview.

big thanks for the full answer man , I think the most important points for me are ,as u said , not to pay attention to those things and disregard everything , and the ending visualization . I'll try those steps (without being obsess with it ) and the most important thing I have to ''practice'' ( in fact it's not a practicable thing) is to disregard everything and not paying attention to my thoughts while WILDing , thanks again and i'll post how it goes

Your question summed up the important parts of WILD perfectly. This is a problem that many people have with WILD. You can not force yourself to have a dream. You can only coax yourself, try to guide your thoughts in the right direction, and try to bring about the correct state of mind.

The key is to be able to keep yourself on the edge of sleep without completely submitting. It is a balance between letting your thoughts wander and drift as you fall asleep, while still keeping a part of yourself aware. Bounce back and forth. Let yourself drift off to sleep, then bring yourself back with something like counting. Then let yourself drift again. You want to lose track of your body and get totally submerged in your thoughts.
