How do you control your environment in a WILD?

I have had a couple successful WILDs where I only let the dream carry me places, and I didn't have control over where I was going because I let the dream take me on the adventure. My goal with lucid dreaming has always been to construct my own whole universe, and so that it has continuity (as in, when I start the dream in the WILD, I start in the same place with the same memories and people as where I ended off as last time I WILDed).

My next step is to learn how to create things. When I try, I imagine things happening with closed eyes in the WILD, but nothing ever manifests once I open my eyes. How do you play with your surroundings successfully in a WILD?

Start with dream incubation, bring it into your WILD using mantras and visualization.

In the end it all comes down to expectations. If you expect you're going to fail or even entertain the notion of failure, you can be sure to fail.

It's your dream. There's no reason it shouldn't bend to your will, and knowing this you will be able to manipulate every element of your dreams.

My advice is to use verbal commands, like saying out loud in the dream, "a Ferrari will appear before me".

I use the same technique as in DILDs. Just believe that you can, and you can!

Haha, I mean believe you have control over your enrivonment and chances are you will be able to do whatever you want to do with it.

I experienced my first WILD where I was able to manipulate the environment just last night. While I have had LD before I was never very successful in controlling what was going on. Even if I tried to float through a ceiling, I would be blocked.

I will tell you what I did differently that may have been the reason why I had better control.

As soon as I realized I was dreaming I stopped and admired every detail of every thing around me. I touched and felt things. Held things and felt their weight in my hand. I examined details. I kept thinking to myself how "real" everything was even though it was a dream.

My assumption (and anyone with more experience please feel free to jump in here) is that in order to create the world around you, you need to know the details of what you are creating. Maybe think of it in terms of Second Life. If you want to build a house, you have to know the shape and dimension, etc...

Also to start you may want to work with what is around you to start. In other words if you wake up in your dream to find yourself in a house. Examine what is around you and change small things about the house or the things in it. Don't just try to create a brand new scene right away. Work small, get a feel for it and take it step at a time.

You don't need to close your eyes or anything else. Just focus on what it is you want to change and it will happen. Don't doubt yourself, you have to be confident. Don't over think it.

One other side thought... If you can get yourself to float or fly it really may boost your confidence level in your ability to change your environment. I think it reassures your mind that you are dreaming and able to control it.

Hope some of this was helpful.
