Hello,
I'm an aspiring lucid dreamer but I've found I've come to a big obstacle in my journey of attaining lucidity: fear. I'm scared of the hypnogogic hallucinations one can apparently encounter during SP. Now, I know Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming isn't the only path I can take, but I feel it's the most direct and the only one that doesn't rely on luck.
I truly am scared of SP. The few times I've been close, I've awoken myself from the state because of this. Can anybody offer any motivational advice? I've tried DEILD but I can't remember ever hearing my alarm during the night? It's possible that I'm still in a sleep like state, see it's still dark when I awake, and turn my alarm off. This is why I need to go straight from a waking state: to retain my logical thinking.
I also have another problem: whenever I try SP before bed (I know you shouldn't, but as I said, I can never recall waking up in the night) I tell myself "I'm too tired, I'll do it tomorrow night, but tomorrow night never comes! And it's true, I am tired! Should I be trying it earlier?
Many thanks for any feedback given.
