DIELD - Is this meant to happen? What should i do?

So before i went to bed i said to myself that i would wake up after every dream and remember to DIELD, and i remebered about it, but only after i had moved after waking.
So i had waken up and already turned over, but i thought to myself that i will still try to DIELD, and after staying still for about a minute i felt a strong tingling sensation run through my arms and legs, at first i was supprised by it, but i tryied to ignore it and think about what i wanted my dream to be, then i felt myself kind of rolling out of my body, but my physical body remained still (its kind of hard to explain) i had been lying there for about 3 minutes, so i thought that if i opened my eyes i would be in the dream world.
But to my disappointment it was my dark bedroom, and i thought to myself "dam i was so close!" but then suddenly i woke up looking at the wall. So previously when i opened my eyes in my dark room that must have been a dream after all.

Was the tingling sensation in my arms and legs sleep paralysis? and what should i do when it is happening, should i think about my previous dream or should i think of a new dream scene?
I dont like being in the dark in my lucid dreams as i start to get paranoid, and my confidence goes down, any advice on that too?

if you guys could help me out that would be awesome, thanks

I would say that the tingling sensation was some form of sp, and the best thing to do during it is to ignore it, stay still and focus on a dream scene. In this case you experienced a false awakening, so maybe you should start by practising rcs when you wake up in the middle of the night, so that in a dream you would realize that it isn't real.

As for the dark, I can't give much advice on because I'm the same way, and still haven't cleared it up yet, but with time and practice I'm sure you'll find some way to either change dream scenes, or create some form of light.

Good luck, and happy dreaming c:

Hey Josh! HatsuneMiku01 has a point about ignoring the sensations. However, those aren't SP though, they're just normal sensations you get just like when you would do a normal WILD (since DEILD is a form of WILD) http://www.dreamviews.com/f79/sensat...y-wild-137332/

Anyway, it was a good thing you didn't give up when you moved. Most people think they blew their chance once they move or open their eyes, but DEILD is so much more on the mental aspect. As long as your mind is set on the mental side (thinking about the dream and not focusing on the physicals), then you can absolutely DEILD. Even I can still DEILD after open my eyes accidentally or I roll over (which I do almost everytime).

But yes, those sensations are normal, as well as some hallucinations, if you start to get any. Nothing to worry about When they start happening, just focus on the dream instead. I personally think about my previous dream, since I find it more straining to think up a new dream scene – the effort to do it makes me lose lucidity or fall asleep. Oh and if you find yourself in a dark room, you can try to do some stuff to convince yourself that the lights might be temporarily off or something. Personally I like to clap my hands like I have clappers on x) or i'd summon some switch and flip it. Or I'd just rub my eyes.

      Good luck!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

If you had a vivid dream before your DEILD attempt I would suggest visualizing that very dream with as much detail as you can recall. Good luck to you!

I'm pretty sure I feel that exact same tingling sensation when I LD. I have only had one LD before, but it was because of some false awakenings, and when I realized that it was a false awakening, I felt that tingling sensation, which then turned into a LD.

I also have had an OBE, or at least I think it was an OBE. It occurred because of a DEILD, and again, I felt the exact same tingling sensation. Once I felt that tingling sensation for 30-60 seconds, I just rolled out of my body, and was in my room. It didn't last very long though.

Anyways, it does seem like you are close. That tingling sensation is a good sign. And just like HatsuneMiku01 said, it might be a good idea to do a reality check when you wake up, just to make sure.

I had a DEILD almost exactly like that. I "woke up" in my room, in the dark. I got up and went out of the room, and did a reality check, because it was so realistic. I then proceeded to have a lucid dream, though it was a short one. Next time, just do an RC. Good luck!
