      how to DIELD?

hey guys, so i found out a good way for my alarm to go off just once for a short amount of time, i just use the calander on my phone and put a "reminder" on a certain time in the night, it just beeps once enough to wake me up then it stop and never comes back on.

this has been very usefull for my trying my DIELD technique but what is the best way to do it?

ive heard that the way to do it is: when you awaken do not open your eyes or even move a muscle in your body, imagine the dream that you have just awoken from and try to vividly visuallize it and re-enter it.

i have tryed this just once but i was wondering if anyone could give me and good tips or point out any floors in my technique, when i awaken do a focus alot on what the dream looked, sounded, and felt like. and do i put alot of effort into this? any tips will do thanks!

Yes, this is an excellent technique to use JoshGoldie. I actually chain alot of my dreams this way. I normally try the 60 min snooze technique. It will wake me up and i will fall back asleep with the timer on a 60 min snooze. I use classical music, nothing too loud or with heavy bass in it. Just with strings and pianos. As this has been an experiment i have been testing out for the past few years now. I certainly would recommend using some sort of soft music to go off every 60 mins or so.

As for the visual of the dream when you awake from it, try and remember the last thing you saw and let your mind focus on the sounds you may have remembered. Make sure to relax your muscles and not tense up as well. Try and imagine sand flowing from your feet, and imagine your entire body being surrounded by white light. Let your mind and body relax while focusing on your heartbeat. Pretty soon, you will find yourself in a dream with full consciousness, or semi consciousness.

      Goodluck!

That's some good advice from dreamprofesser.

And the way you describe your technique - that sounds good. When I happen to remember not to move after waking up, the transition for me is very short, only 5 - 20 seconds. I never really get out of the dream, just become more aware of my sleeping body at the same time. Don't overthink it. Just relax, you will be still in SP if you don't move. If you can, think of your previous dream. But don't stress out, if you can't visualize or imagine how it feels or smells. The transition should be very fast, so most likely you won't have much time to think about anything anyway. Pretty much, just lay there and let it happen. Happy dreams

So do you mean like put a short alarm to goo of every 60 minutes, so that you can get multiple attempts at DIELD a night, so lets say i have had 5 hours of uninterupted sleep, then could i set this short alarm to go off every 60 minutes after that five hour mark so that i can get as many attempts in as i like?

Yes, that is correct. By doing this after you sleep for a good amount of 5 hours or so, then you can go about setting your alarm to wake you up every 60 mins or so. This will give you huge opportunity to chain hopefully 3-5 lucid dreams in one morning. But just be sure you can sleep in for a couple of hours though. Goodluck!
