SP yet can't go to sleep

Last night I went to bed at 8:00 P.M.
Woke up at 2:30 A.M. (30 minutes to compensate actually going to sleep)
Got a small glass of water
Went to bed (3-5 minutes later)
Took around 80 or so breaths before SP
Once that happened my how body went completely numb, could feel anything.
I continued to try to go to sleep but I just couldn't, I wasn't moving or anything.
about 10 after complete SP, I forced myself to do a RC (Nose & Fingers), sadly I was awake the whole time.

Am I doing a step wrong? Is it just a one off thing or should I try a different technique.

The errors in your understanding are numerous:

      1) SP is not a part of WILD and is not required
      2) You did not experience anything close to SP
      3) You also didn't experience anything close to hypnagogia either (the transition from wake to sleep). You were 100% awake the whole time, as you already suspected.

Your error was using a crappy WILD guide.

Not a clue, should I refer to the one in your sig?

Yep, it's the best one. Also read the SP sticky at the top of the WILD forum.

      Hey Amneth,

Based on what you said in your initial post, I'm not really sure if your experiences sleep paralysis or not. But it's not all that important in terms of attaining lucidity. No worries. If you're interested, you could join the Intro Class in the DreamViews Academy. We're cool there about aiding and directing folks toward their lucid goals, without necessarily focusing on sleep paralysis or other "steps" like that. Everyone gets lucid in their own way. Ok, let me rephrase that: you basically get lucid one of 2 ways: lucid from the get go, or later on in the dream. The point is, we have a great group there helping folks get lucid in their own way. Just give us a shout if you're interested

Wow I have to agree. I was coming to the same conclusion this week. I simply was not sleepy/comfortable. I had to put more emphasis on sleep than doing the WILD. I read that guys thread last month too but I forgot about it since i read like 10 other guides after his.

Will try his/your method again tomorrow morning.

      Awesome!

I take no credit for any method and I'm shamelessly advertising mzzkc's guide without his permission. Maybe I'll add that to my sig.
