      Lightbulb Different variations of DEILD

Ok so as i see it you can get a Deild from either a lucid or a non lucid dream.

what i wanted to know is the difference in the non ld variation.

To say how was it for you first experiencing Deild. I would like to know how the first night was for instance how you reminded yourselves not to move, how you later woke up etc.

Because the rule book say you have to wake up and instantly lay still so i wonder how most of you did it.
or was it any of you that woke up the first night and was completely still automatically after repeating a mantra?
what i mean is really automatic like you didnt even remember the attempt before like some seconds later your body did it for you.

or did you have to practise not moving and quickly be aware of it because you didnt stop move no matter what?

To summarize it up, how did you wake up the night of your first Deild?

      1. When you where still a beginner Deilder did any of you do a mantra, wake up and realized your attempt and before you realized your body was still and you didnt move?

      2. did you have to practice realizing not to move before you got the impulse to move?

      3. As a beginner, did any of you have to practice not to move in any other way?

Mindset is more important than movement during DEILD, you need to be in the right mindset and staying still part is just here to not wake you up fully, it's not completely necessary as long as you don't focus on it and as long as it doesn't wakes you up fully, many people have entered DEILD after minor movements. I don't think there's any difference between getting here from LD or from non-LD, the process remains same, whether it's easier from non-LD or LD or same varies from person to person.
As for questions: When my awareness increased from lucid dream practice, i more often started noticing that i became more aware of waking up, from there i just decided to start trying DEILD and eventually got it, it was more the problem of timing it properly with REM than staying still for me personally. ;-?
But yeah, mantras help many people with DEILD, give them a go, also check out this tutorial: http://www.dreamviews.com/induction-...cid-dream.html

when Im lucid I can usually DEILD pretty good when i notice the dream fading. But when non lucid its a bit trickier. I found that once I started practising All day awareness, My false awakenings/DEILDs sky rocketed. your body will just recognize when it happens, and you'll get used to the feeling.

Well Checker666 i kinda wrote the post to get other peoples experiences and from that some ideas on what i am doing right or wrong in my attempt.

But i think your right about the movement part, but for the best i dont think i should move around since i probably would wake up considerably by spinning thoughts about Deild.

Mantras are great already got a taste of that

When I began lucid dreaming I didn't know what it was and didn't know any techniques (I had no internet). I was working with WILD at the beginning of the night because I was simply experimenting with different states of consciousness; mostly thinking of nothing at all (or that was the intention). I was very intrigued by the weird vibrations that resulted, and after much practice and messing around I was amazed to find myself in a strange lucid world for a very brief time.

My first DEILD was a result of that practice. I found myself with a strong desire to re-enter a dream I was having, so I simply did it without moving. Subsequently I had to make a firm intention to not move upon awakening from then on because I wanted to become proficient at it. It took some time, but the intention was enough. If I moved it wasn't really a big deal though, and in fact I move purposefully many times because I wake up naturally and need to turn over. The more you move, or rather the more you awaken, the more it becomes a standard WILD and requires a level of focus.

      1. I was well aware of being awake and not having moved; in fact the dream fading itself, and therefore the basic dream recall was enough; if you've ever wanted to re-enter a dream you may have had this happen to you.

      2. Not the first time, but after that, yes. Like any habit, it takes repetition and time to get used to not moving when you wake up; then you can choose instead of just reacting. The formula is dream recall + strong intention. Also, find the right DEILD variation that works best for you (dream entry technique).

I tend to have DEILD moments because I move, or shift my position in the night, particularly when my long hair gets uncomfortable around my neck or stuck under my arm. It's the movement of turning over that allows me to DEILD because I'm extremely sleepy after three or four hours of sleep (at least) but I've had enough rest that I can start having longer dreams.

I didn't have to practice not moving because I had already done so, and the dream often remained intact for reentry.

I have always been this type of sleeper so it wasn't as much the intention to DEILD as just taking advantage of my natural sleep habits. Lucid dreaming works best when you use the natural style of your sleep habits and work the technique around the manner in which you sleep and dream. You can achieve better WILDs and DEILDs by understanding how you sleep and what your body does while asleep.

Thanks guys. Now im really fired up about my practice and that Staying still will come on its own as long as i keep up with my dedication to the technique.
What i should work on to achieve is my own personal way of transition/ how i am supposed to find that perfect piece of mind. That may be the true nature of Deild the other one is not what makes you lucid its just a third wheel on the bicycle to make it easier for the practitioner to on their own work on the skill to ride the bike.

Right now i think that third wheel is getting on pretty well if i keep up my daily routine.
But i will start working out a way to remain calm, find that perfect balance to not shock myself (nor my heart) awake fully.
(which i believe will be a tuff challenge to boot).

I almost pulled off a DEILD this morning.

I had taken my son to school today and came home to go back to bed. I didn't get a lot of sleep before that, I've been short on rest all week, and construction (I should say demolition) of the house two doors down starts 45 minutes before my regular alarm.

      So I've been tired recently.

I had a headache this morning that kept me from resting immediately but I eventually drifted off after 30 or 40 minutes of lying around and being fairly still in my blanket-cocoon. I managed to have a short couple of dreams surrounded by brief awakenings and one dream started to continue following one of these awakenings in a nicely lucid way but was cut short by my daughter finally deciding it was time to be awake.

Ah well....I can try again tomorrow.

Keep working on your DEILD efforts, and WILD as well. It's amazing how normal life activities and influences can set you up for success.
