      Frustration

      I have been attempting WBTB for quite a few weeks now and so far I have been rather unsuccessful. I usually try to wake up between 4-6 hours of sleep but find it incredibly difficult to stay awake. I'm currently on medication and it usually sends me to sleep for 11-12 hours. Some days I could sleep even more but I won't allow myself more than 12 hours as I feel I'm wasting my day.

      The problem is at around 4-5 hours of sleep I am incredibly drowsy and find making it out of bed quite a task. I usually go use the bathroom at this point but by the time I return to my room and set my intention to get lucid I've fallen asleep. I try to sit up and meditate or use a mantra but I find it hard to sit up and usually end up falling asleep in that position or I slowly start to lose consciousness and fall down onto my pillow where I instantly shut off. I'm very drowsy and my awareness is terrible but any attempts to try and wake myself up a bit usually fail. I've tried reading but the words on the page usually blur or move around. TV makes me fall asleep instantly. Walking around the house only results in me feeling even more tired.

      The times I have been successful are usually after 8 hours of sleep, either through DIELD or just randomly managing to obtain a WILD but again I can still be incredibly drowsy at this point and nothing is guaranteed. Plus my dog starts to bark at everything and nothing after about 8am and he doesn't stop (he's blind and so gets scared easily and will go crazy at any noise he hears from outside) so trying to get lucid in the later hours is problematic through that alone.

      My lucidity in general, whether it's through WILD or DILD, is pretty poor yet again and it's beyond frustrating.

      Aw, sometimes it just happens, i've had some problems with my sleeping schedule recently as well, but think positive! Keep practicing awareness, reality checks, WILDing, DJing and so on and i am sure you will have nice lucids, don't be frustrated, it will come. As for WBTB maybe try using different anchor that can keep your awareness better or try different things that can wake you up without tiredness, again, think positive and keep it up.
      Also if you have problems with distractions and noise, you can try earbuds and/or listening to white noise.
