      A couple of questions

I feel like I'm being annoying by asking a lot of questions on DV xD

One: do I need to have good dream recall for WILDing?

Two: could I use the fan as an anchor?

I am not an expert by any means--I've only had 2 lucid dreams. That said, I *have* done a lot of research on the subject, so I know what I've read, but have little actual practice. Still, I feel I ought to at least give you some sort of answer based on my reading

I have read that it is pretty important to at least remember one dream a night for any lucid attempt, because the dream could very easily be forgotten. I think I'm a good example of this because twice now I've woken up with the odd feeling I've been lucid in a dream, but cannot remember for the life of me. Of course, I've no way of knowing if I really *was* lucid if I can't remember the dream, but it's not like I have that feeling every time I wake up, so I trust it.

Anyway, to condense a long paragraph, according to everything I've read thus far, yes it is important to remember at least one dream a night if you want to have a better chance at actually remembering your lucid dreams. I don't see why WILD would be any different, since you are still entering the dream world, and dreams seem to love to try and elude our memory :p

I'm not sure about the anchor thing, because I've seen the word anchor used in a couple of different ways. If you mean as a way to help you remember your dreams, then I've read you can use *anything.* I use a statue, affirming to myself that every time I look at my owl statue, I will remember my dreams. Hasn't worked for me yet though Of course you may mean one of the other uses of the word I've seen, and I suspect you are, in which case I have no idea

Having decent recall and improving it is always good, so keep working on that, but that should not stop you from attempting WILD unless you don't want to. Lucid dreams are generally easier to remember, especially if your awareness is high and dream was interesting/you did some nice dream control/and so on. And during WILD one usually starts with pretty high awareness.
As for anchor, do you mean fan's white noise? Sound can work as an anchor as long as it doesn't keeps you awake, but instead i'd suggest using an mental anchor, like counting or mantra or visualization. Also check out this tutorial on WILD if you haven't already: WILD

Dream recall is about so much more that just remembering your dreams. It's also about us appreciating our dreams, thinking about them when writing them down, thinking about how cool they were and maybe what we would like to dream about next. The more we think about dreams, the better.

If you normally sleep with fan on, then it should be ok when WILDing. But as scionox said, mental anchor (something that keeps reminding you what you doing) is probably better. I personally prefer mantra, but people also use counting.

Oh, and don't feel bad about asking questions. We love answering them, so , keep them coming

Recall isn't required for WILD, but it can help. It can give a better understanding of dreams in general and, while lucids are fairly memorable regardless, it can still help with recalling the finer details. Finally, even if your WILD fails, good recall can allow you to still have a DILD.

As for the fan, it depends. Paying too much attention can completely ruin your attempt, but paying the right amount can allow you to maintain awareness, whilst still dreaming. I suppose, it would work like white noise.
