I'll Send You A Virtual Cookie...

...if you solve my WILD problem!

I've had but one successful WILD attempt. Since then, I have been stuck in an auditory hallucination "phase."

Let's see if I can describe it.

After waking up and then heading back to sleep, I can tell when I'm about to start having auditory hallucinations (in fact, last night when I woke up briefly, I sad, "here we go!" because I knew for a fact I would start moving into a WILD). To me, these hallucinations sound like an airplane trying to take off underwater.

Well, soon after they start, they become very intense, to the point where my I feel completely consumed by this noise in my head. Typically I try to remain calm, but sometimes it is a bit too much and I begin to lose that momentum, the sound dissipates (almost like the "engine" is dieing down) and then there is nothing.

Seconds after it stops, it will begin again and get back to the point where it is overwhelming.

When the conditions are right for a WILD, I will go through this process five or six times before finally falling asleep. I never seem to be able to transition.

Do I need to wait for the intense noise to stop? Do I just need to remain calm and not get consumed?

HELP! (there is a virtual cookie in it for you). Thanks!

Remember that for WILD you need to fall asleep while keeping awareness, not to stay awake and/or wait for something. As for the noise, remain calm and keep awareness, also check out this thread for more on dream entry: http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...ntry-wild.html

Most of the time you get different types of HH. Sometimes it's visual, auditory, or even tactile. You can enter LD from all of them, they just require different approach. Check the link Scionox posted above.

Also, here is a great WILD (sageous) tutorial. Among other things, he talks about how to initiate a dream, so you can enter it. Good luck.

The most intense experiences in my life have always involved unusual sounds/vibrations.
The low intensity sounds you are encountering shows you are on the right path.
As your skills, and experiences expand, the sound should go up in frequency.
The unexplainable experiences I have encountered had a high pitched whine, like a mosquito flying by my ears.
Several reports of vibrations, and sounds are reported by Robert Monroe, as he enters the dream state.
Also, many yogis say this is a common sound to hear when advanced meditations are mastered.
The so called Chakras also go up in frequency as you travel from the lowest to the crown.
The choice to put a meaning to your experience can be any one of these explanations, or maybe something completly different.
Might even be a next door neighbour switching on a washing machine.

Now, I want the cookie. Gimme, gimme. It's mine......

Sometimes it may be the case that you already have transitioned or are very close. Try floating above your body to check that or alternatively to go somewhere else, visualize a scene and concentrate on it. Good luck!

I get the same thing when I haven't slept for a while, go to sleep, then wake up before Ive gotten enough sleep. For me, it's an intense ringing sound, but its more like a feeling than a sound. I can hear it, but it resonates all throughout my head. Usually when it happens, I'm not trying to WILD though so I just stick with it, and sometimes Ill transition, and other times ill just fall asleep. It's best if when it happens again, you just ride it out. If it happens, great! If it doesn't, there's always next time.
"Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality."

I'm not going to add an LD count because I sort of don't keep count. I've had about 2-3 WILDs... i think and one or two DILDS.

Thank you all for the wonderful responses! Sorry I haven't replied sooner!

I really like your ideas presented TiredPhil - if only because my ego likes to think it has found some road to advanced meditation (perhaps not the case, but I would like to think so).

I definitely need to work more on what NyxCC suggested and explore my state (whether dream or waking) when I have this incredibly intense sounds in my head. I do have difficulty, though, because it absolutely consumes my senses.

Perhaps I should just keep trying to relax, let my breathing/heart slow down and accept the sound as it pummels me.

      And without further adieu...

If I can take my attention from those cookies, I'd also like to say that I plan to keep this thread fairly active as I continue to experiment with these sounds and see what kind of progress (if any) I can make.
