      Techniques for WILDing during naps?

I've started a new schedule that involves a lot of sleep deprivation and a lot of naps. Naps should be the perfect time to WILD because my body is trying to catch up on REM sleep, but I have yet to have a single success. If I actively try, I either fall asleep too quickly or end up never falling asleep at all. I don't have the tiredness and mindset that comes with WBTB. What sorts of things should I teh specifically for nap lucid dreaming?

      Hi sanctum,

Although it's true that if you sleep deprived, body wants to catch up on REM sleep first. But it has to be exact amount of sleep deprivation. If you overdo it, then your body will fall into deep NREM sleep, because that is same important as REM sleep, only for different reasons.

So instead of sleep deprivation, how about you just do the naps? During nap, even if it's after a normal 8 hr night sleep, we go pretty much straight to REM. Some people have sucessfully WILDed even in afternoon naps. For me personally, morning naps are the best, especially for WILD.

I would go through just a very short NREM - which is basically stage 1 of falling asleep and light sleep. Then pretty much straight to REM, skipping the deep sleep.

I use the same technique for a WBTB as for a nap.

To be able to fall asleep just at the right time when dream is ready for you, you have to practice. Do mental preparation. IMHO, that's best described here WILD

      Good luck

Sorry -- let me clarify. My new schedule is due to school and work things unrelated to lucid dreaming. I'm not trying to sleep deprive myself and then lucid dream during naps; it just so happens that I'm taking a lot of naps, and I figured it would be the perfect time to try to WILD as well.

I see, sorry about your hectic schedule.

Well, it may work, if you not sleep deprived too much. Only way to know for sure is to try it. If you too tired, you may just fall asleep unconsiously. But if you determined, you just may be sucessful. Good luck and happy dreams
