Can someone relate, or explain what it was? (Sleep Paralysis)

      Hello.

About a year ago I had his incredibly scary dream. I remember it as if I dreamt it yesterday.

What happened in my "dream" was that I fell asleep, but suddenly my eyes were open, and I felt an evil presence down at my feet. I was laying with the right side of my head against the pillow. I couldn't move a muscle. Suddenly I see a hand stretching against my face. As it gets closer my head starts to hurt, like a really bad headache. I try to move as hard as I can but nothing works. The hand is getting closer, almost reaching my forehead. The headache is now so strong that it feels like I can hardly breath. There is also this beep sound that is so loud my head is getting even worse, and it feels like its gonna explode any minute. When the hand is just a few cm away from my forehead I snap out of it and wake up. I sit there watching out in my bedroom, everything is as it should be.

I could not get any sleep after that "dream"

I haven't been writing this anywhere before now, because I didn't know about the lucid dreaming/Sleep Paralysis etc before a short while ago.

Sorry for my bad english, hope for a response from someone that can explain or relate. I have searched the internet for someone dreaming the same as me (as people often experience the same SPs).

And also I have another question. When going into a Lucid dream, one must begin by going through the sleep paralysis? So that means if I want to start learning to get into lucid dreams, that I somehow have to stay calm even though that hand and the headaches hurts more and more? :s

Hello Fade, first of all, sorry for my bad english.

I've experienced Sleep Paralysis for many times, but my Sleep Parlaysises are never as scary as you got. I don't know how to tell it in English, but i think it's because you thinks too lot, am i right? If no, you probably sleep after you read a horror book? because, the evil i saw when i got SPs is the evil i knows! That's what i can share, i hope it will help you ^-^ Good Luck!

      Hello!

Don't worry about the english I think i got what u meant about it

It is true that I usually think a lot before i go to bed/ in the bed. But I hadn't read or watched anything with horror in it before i went to bed. I think I may have been playing a game before i went to bed to sleep. The clock was about 04.00 when it happened. And in my house there are sometimes strange noises in the house about 04.00. But I'm not sure what it could have been yet..

Thanks for writing back to me HaPeace

      Hi Fade,

I actually don't think it was a sleep paralysis. It sounds to me like a normal nightmare. Especially since you say "...and then I woke up".

Althought true SP can be same scary as you describe.

But here is some good news. You do not go through SP when lucid dreaming. It is not part of the process.

When you inducing LDs via WILD, you may experience "falling asleep sensations", such as vibrations, body getting relaxed, heavy or light, and such. You may also see some hypnagogic hallucinations - HH. These could be images or movies or also hearing sounds. Most of the time this is a pleasant experience, especially if you are WILDing with happy thoughts and nice images on your mind.

When you DILD, you don't encounter any of this.

Good luck and ask any questions. happy dreams

Thank you for explaining it for me

What i meant with the "... and then i woke up" is that my eyes were open the whole time.. and i couldnt get up even if i tried at first, because i couldnt move one single muscle in my body.. So I was panicking.. And then suddenly i could move again and the headache and everything was then gone
I don't think that could've been a normal nightmare.. because I've never felt anything like that when having nightmares. And my nightmares have never happened in my room either. Don't know how to explain it :/

But I'm really glad that I don't have to go through that to get to the lucid dreaming Thanks again for explaining more about LD for me

      Happy dreams to you too

I see. Well, I'm not saying it could not have been a true SP. I have had those 2 times in my life, long time before I started lucid dreaming. On one occasion, I "saw" my room.

Often times we may feel as our eyes are opened, when in fact, they are not. We are simply dreaming, that our eyes are opened and we see our room. Especially, since the hallucinations we see are all happening with our eyes closed.

When I try to lucid dream via WILD, sometimes I realize I can see my room. We call it "seeing through closed eyelids". But of course, it's just a dream that you are in your room.

But no matter what it was, you did well. And now you know, no matter how scary something gets, it can never hurt you and you will always wake up safely in your bed.
