Does morning light destroy DEILD Attempt?

      Hi Guys!
      I've got quick question.

I'm wondering about this 'Would a morning light destroy a DEILD Attempt?'
      Let's say here's the process:
      1. Woke Up
      2. Remaining Motionless & Keeping Eyes Closed
      3. I can partially see light throught my closed eyelids
Would that kind of morning light disrupt my DEILD Attempt?

      Help would be quite great
      - Thanks
      I'm back! Again? Uhhh..

      Consider this before-hand:

A DEILD is a super-fast WILD making use of an unfinished sleep cycle: if you wake up normally chances are that you're already done for the time being and will return to previous stages of sleep (aka, you will end up WILDing, not DEILDing).

Now to answer the question: yes, you don't need to have your eyes open to detect light (blind people can also detect light), so light can harm your DEILD indeed. But depending on the circumstances (if you're still very sleepy and indeed still not in the end of your sleep cycle) the light won't necessarily awake you enough to forbid a DEILD attempt.

Is this because you're planning to use your phone to wake up for DILD? If it is: if you can, use an alarm that turns itself off automatically and only rings for 2-3 seconds at max (this is how I used to WILD).

PS: one of the bonuses of having a fixed sleep schedule is that you could experiment this by yourself and adjust to the desired result

      Hello, MisakaMikoto!

I believe it does. Basically, anything that asks your mind to engage with waking reality will potentially mess up a DEILD attempt, and nothing asks you to wake up like sunlight. Also, I agree with Zoth here: more of the time, if you wake up normally, you won't be able to DEILD. I have only DEILDed from waking abruptly from nightmares, ending a lucid dream, or waking up from lucidity prematurely. I have tried to DEILD the way you (I think?) are describing and have not yet been successful.

Pick up a sleep mask! I use one and it is great. Also, you can hang dark curtains over the blinds to block out the light.
