When WILDing do you have to wake up for an hour?

I was reading that in order to WILD, you've got to wake up and do something for an hour or so (i.e.: reading a book, reading your dream journal) and I'm wondering how necessary this part is? Does everyone do this.. or is it something the author of that article recommends?

I'd like to try WILDing tonight, but if I have to stay awake for an hour before even being able to WILD well then..

I would like to know if this is necessary too!
I haven't done it yet, and that might be the reason to why I fail a lot. I've heard that it's different for everyone, so just experiment with it! I'd say one hour is way more than enough. You could try with 10-30 min.

That's WBTB, Wake Back To Bed, you're talking about. With WILD you don't have to stay awake for longer than a few seconds if you don't want to.

I don't know about persistent progress. All I know is that my one time wilding happened after eating a chocolate muffin with OJ after waking up and going back to sleep. That is, if recalled correctly. It seems to be easier this way.

Possibly it depends on the person. You can potentially do it after staying up for 30 or 15 minutes.

This is also a good point.
