      Help With WILD?

Hello, I'm Justme13. I've been into lucid dreaming for about a year, and have succeeded a few times with SILDs, although I've never put too much effort into having them more commonly. Recently, I have been trying to have a WILD, and now am able to do everything right... up to the urge. When you try to enter SP, you get the urge to either roll over or swallow. For me it's swallowing. I'm able to stop swallowing until this point, but as soon as I reach this point, I'm able to resist for about 8 seconds before swallowing. This has happened about 8 times so far, and I'm really looking for an answer. How do I resist the urge?!

No, you don't get it. Whenever I succumb to the urge and I do swallow, the SP progress resets. Since it takes me about 20 minutes to get to that point, I really want to find out how to not swallow before trying again.

I think I get it--you are really concerned about reaching sleep paralysis. However, SP should not be a goal in-and-of-itself. What you are talking about is REM atonia, and the experience of REM atonia is not at all necessary to experiencing a WILD. That was what was in the link I sent you; if you get a chance, you should read it, as there is a lot of excellent information, as well as advice from experienced WILDers.

Concerning the urge to swallow, I don't think your mind is relaxed and in a place conducive to WILD. If it was, you would be fine with watching whatever the body does as it naturally falls asleep--breathing, swallowing, whatever. You seem tense and worried about the progression of WILD, and whether or not you will make it, and how much time you are spending on it. None of that is helpful to WILDing in my opinion. So I am suggesting to just relax and let be.

If WILD happens, fine. If the WILD attempt fails, fine too. Fall asleep and DILD. And when you wake up, DEILD (which is a form of WILD).

Congratulations! Would you mind describing it a little? I'd like to see how you implemented the given advice and what you experienced during the process

Congrats! But what kind WILD technique did you use (just out of curiosity)?

This is an except from my dream journal: I actually didn't know how it happened, but after reading some more stuff I pretty much fell naturally into the "roll check" technique. As for what happened in the dream (although it may have been an OBE), my memory is that I went downstairs from my bedroom on the upper floor and went outside to a place nowhere like where I lived and attempted to fly. Instead of flying, I ended up just doing this thing where I launch my self like 10 feet in the air then float back to the ground. I'm not really sure what you'd call it. Anyways, this excited me to the point of falling out of the dream and opening my eyes to find that an hour had passed. So, I guess that was pretty successful for a first experience of WILD. Next time I'm able to preform one, I'm gonna try to inflict different emotions into myself.

Sounds amazing! If it comes that naturally, you probably have a bit of talent for WILD. Keep it up!

Every time I try to do WILD, I feel some kind of a pain in my back and It comes in a waves. I used to fall asleep while attempting WILD, but now, I dont. I just get stuck at this vibrations which are trying to force me to roll-over. I remember I resisted soo much that suddenly, when I was looking on my eyelids, I saw like flashes of light ( similiar when you look at night to stars but this lights were moving ) and I dunno why I started to move with my eyes and I opened my eyes. Preivous night same vibrations cut me off from WILD I do some excercise but It does not help. When vibations apear, I resist but after some time I cant take it anymore and I give up

There are different opinions on this so don't take what I'm about to say for the truth but I would suggest you to just give in to the temptation. As long as you don't open your eyes or move too much, rolling over might not hurt your attempt as much as you might think. Especially if you're not used to sleeping on your back, a WILD from that position can become nearly impossible since you just won't fall asleep.

If this doesn't help, the pain in your back might just be a very vivid (and annoying) form of HI. If that is the case, try convincing yourself that the pain you feel is not real and try to pay as little attention as possible to it. I know that's easier said than done but changing your mindset can be groundbreaking.
