However, when I tried today - and this has happened before too - I couldn't make it past the transition into sleep. As soon as my body (I think) reached sleep, a tingling spread over my entire body. My heart raced, and I think it was a physical reaction more than excitement. I say this because that too has happened before, and I made active efforts to stay calm this time, knowing what was coming. After this tingling and my heart racing (but no insane g forces etc like some people describe) I felt really awake, and I felt like nothing else would happen. I laid there for a bit longer and eventually rolled over and fell back asleep.

I had this exact thing happen to me last night! When I look back I feel it is possible I was dreaming at certain points to an extent, as I was visualizing some weird things. But I always felt awake at the end of it. The entire body tingling happened and my heart would race each time. I felt so close, but it would then slip away. I am going to try and use these techniques like the motionless RCs as well as attempting to roll out of my body. I suppose it just takes time to become finely attuned to how these things work.
