    1. 01/27/12: Train to Oblivion

      Crazy Train
I am near the train tracks that are a couple miles from my house. It is either early in the morning or late in the afternoon, I don't spend much time thinking about that. I am waiting for the next train to come by. I know trains come along about every hour and they come to a stop near this railroad crossing to allow other trains to pass on the adjacent track. So I am waiting there for the next train to come along, I plan to hop on the train and see where it goes. I am thinking then all I have to do is jump on a train going the other direction when I want to come back.

I haven't been there for very long when a train comes along. It comes to a stop just past the railroad crossing, and proceeds to wait there for the other train to arrive and pass. I walk along the side of this train, looking for a way to board. I see an open box car and I head for that, it should work. I see there is someone already in the car. I am about to continue on my way when I realize I recognize the person. It's MoSh! Apparently MoSh has decided to travel into the USA using trains to get around for free. I head towards the car and call out his name, he looks over at me. The train is moving, though. Why so soon? It should have waited for another train to pass! I chase after the car with MoSh on it, it is clear he is going to help me on board if I can just catch up enough… the train is accelerating way too fast, much faster than should be possible… I am feeling quite disappointed and depressed as it pulls away and takes MoSh with it.

      To Oblivion and Beyond!
I am inside a game of Oblivion, and I am looking to close an Oblivion gate. I also want to collect a lot of bloodgrass from Oblivion since the primary effect of bloodgrass is the chameleon effect. So I am wandering through the forests and fields looking for an Oblivion gate. I finally spot what I am looking for. It is at the bottom of a hill I am on. I hurry down the hill, jumping to move faster. I jump farther than I intend and I fall quite some distance to the ground below. I am thinking I will get hurt, but I land with no problem at all. I go through the gate into Oblivion.

Oblivion looks like I expect it to look, so I get straight to it. I pick several pieces of bloodgrass and see a couple scamps. I snipe one with my bow and arrow and finish the other off with my sword. I continue along the way, collecting lots of bloodgrass. I spot the tower that I know will house the sigil stone and I head for it. I have enough bloodgrass for now, so it is time to close this gate. I get into the tower and fight my way to the top. I snipe a scamp from across the room in the first room of the tower. I also spot a daedra that isn't paying any attention when I get near the top, I snipe him, too. I love sniping these daedra that aren't paying attention… they're so stupid. I get to the top of the tower and I grab the sigil stone to collapse the gate…

…and now I find myself in someplace really strange… somehow stranger than Oblivion. The sky looks like a swirling black hole or maybe a galaxy spinning really fast, the ground is barren and dead. How did I end up here? This isn't normal for Cyrodiil… maybe I ended up on the Shivering Isles? It doesn't even look right for that, though the sky looks about right… I start wandering across the barren landscape to see if I can find out where I am. I turn to look back and the collapsed gate is still immediately behind me even though I have been walking for several minutes. How can that be? And how am I supposed to get anywhere if I can walk forever and not move at all?

      From School to Oblivion
I am in school at Pima Community College, this is my first day back to class. I look around at the other students and find a sear where I wait for the instructor. The teacher comes in pretty soon, and I see he has a cart full of goodies with him! Lots of sweets. Cupcakes, cookies, donuts… there goes my diet! I decide to eat a limited amount of the treats. I pick a chocolate cupcake and start eating it. It is delicious. There doesn't seem to be an actual class, and I wonder if tuition is all going to pay for sweets… weird… I decide I had better leave before I pig out. I go to the door and open it, there is someone else about to come in. A large tentacle or vine or something erupts through his chest as he is standing there. He has the most puzzled look on his face… wtf?! I go around the dying man and see there is an Oblivion gate in the parking lot. There are scamps wandering around the gate and a huge vine like thing coming out of the gate, that is what killed the man. I find I have a sword… it formed from Witchblade. I cut the vine thing off and jump through the Oblivion gate, moving seamlessly from a non-lucid dream to believing I am in a virtual reality video game.

I am in Oblivion now, and I look around to see what needs to be done. There is a massive gate closed between me and the main tower. I guess they expect me to walk around the long way to get there. I have the idea I don't have that much time. I go over to the gate and look at it closely. There are various places on the gate that make it look like I should be able to climb it. I wonder if this version of the game will allow that… so I start climbing. I get to the top with surprisingly little effort. I look down on the other side of the gate. My body feels lighter than normal… instead of taking this as a trigger to do a RC I decide it is because of the game. I fly down on the other side of the gate, immediately engaging two daedra in battle and killing them. I go into the main tower and look around, killing three scamps and a daedra I find there. There is a beam of fire shooting up the center of the tower. I don't have time to go the long way… I fly up the beam to the top. I am being fired at by scamps on the path around the outer edge of the tower. They can't hit the target. I get to the top and look at the sigil stone only briefly before grabbing hold of it… and waking up.

    3. 01/04/12: Jaws of Oblivion

      01/04/12

Note: Three days running… and this time I have more than one dream to post… yay! Of course part of the reason there are multiple dreams is because I have a cold right now, and that caused me to wake up more than I normally do.

      Woman's Best Friend
I am in my own house, and I know there is something I want to do before I do anything else in dreams tonight. My dog, Thor, has been diagnosed with a melanoma in his mouth, which my mom says she thinks is getting bigger. He has an appointment with the vet tomorrow, so I want to take the chance to do a little healing on him. I leave my bedroom and find the dog in my mother's room, he is lying on the bed sleeping. I take his head in my hands, one hand on each side, looking into his big brown eyes. I sing the song "Voices" from the Macross Plus soundtrack while focusing healing energy into Thor.

      Fly Me to the Moon
I am on the moon, on the green moon, everything looks more like it would on Earth. The moon has been terraformed. I see the Earth shining brightly in the sky, it is beautiful. Nomad is there with me, I go over to him, is it really him? It seems like it has been forever since I've had a confirmed shared dream... I go over to Nomad and say hello to him, I happen to think of him saying he has been having problems with carpel tunnel syndrome lately. I take both of his hands in mine and sing the song "Voices" from the Macross Plus soundtrack, focusing healing energy into Nomad. Maybe it can also help with the cold he has been fighting. I notice there is someone off to the side, they seem to be staying just out of sight. I wonder who it is. I ask Nomad if he was aware he is being followed. He looks over and says that is nothing new, he is always being followed. Now how about that Oblivion gate? Ok, let's go. I focus on opening a portal, using Avalon to find an Oblivion gate that needs closing. A portal opens and Nomad and I go through. I briefly see the landscape of Tamriel before I wake up.

      Templars in Oblivion
I am in Tamriel, in the world of the game of Oblivion. Nomad is there with me, and I see movement off to the side. I wonder if there are bandits or enemies out there, but I don't really have time to check it out before I notice there is an Oblivion gate not far off. Nomad and I head in that direction, taking a brief flight to get to the gate. Nomad lands slightly before I do and kills two Clannfears before I even land. We go through the gate into Oblivion…

The Oblivion plane looks like I expect it to look, there are a couple of scamps there attacking us, we eliminate those quickly. I remove the head of a scamp with a sword that forms from Witchblade. I am starting to get into the Oblivion theme, and I remove a piece of skin from the dead scamp, that will be useful in potions later. Nomad and I are exploring the world of Oblivion, though I am taking quite a bit of time heading to each cluster of bloodgrass and harvesting some to make potions from. Nomad seems amused by my gathering of the bloodgrass. A couple more scamps attack us, and then a daedra appears with a sword. I hit the daedra with a bolt of lightning, Nomad removes its head. There is movement behind us. I turn to look and there are Templars here! Where did they come from? I tell them they are in the wrong game, get out of Oblivion and into Assassin's Creed. One of them, there are three of them, says there isn't anywhere we can go that they can't follow. A daedra emerges from behind the Templars and draws its sword. I tell them to look behind them, they're being attacked. One of the Templars says they're not dumb enough to fall for that. That Templar finds the sword of the daedra running through his middle. The daedra kills the three Templars and then attacks Nomad and me, I attack the daedra with my sword and run it through. I see Nomad is fighting something else, but I wake up at this point.

Close Shut the Jaws of Oblivion
I am on the planes of Oblivion with Nomad, there are quite a few dead scamps around us as well as a couple of dead daedra. He says it's good of me to come back. I say my cold woke me up. We enter into the tallest tower I can see and I see the familiar base of the tower of Oblivion. We enter the area called the "Blood Feast." It is the base of the tower, there is a beam of fire shooting up the tower to where the sigil stone sits at the top. I start playing through as I normally do, I kill two scamps and a daedra at the bottom of the tower. Nomad is looking up the beam and he says this should be easy… then he starts flying up the beam. I look after him and say of course it's easy if you use cheat codes… He looks a bit puzzled. I comment he must have used a cheat code in order to fly. But if he wants to cheat… I fly up with Nomad. Even though he is flying directly to the sigil stone, he is not doing it to avoid fights. He stops off on a couple of the paths along the way just so he can fight a daedra or a scamp that is shooting at us. We reach the top of the tower quickly, I go over and kill a couple of daedra that are waiting there for us to come from the opposite direction.

Nomad is looking at the sigil stone floating in the air, floating right in the middle of the beam of fire. I say all we have to do is take it to shut down this Oblivion gate. I reach out and take the stone from its place, which causes a big explosion and then we are standing back in Tamriel beside a ruined gate. The sigil stone is vibrating in my hand with energy. I ask if Nomad wants to keep the stone, then I hand it to him. I can get many more. He is looking at the stone when I wake up.
    4. 10/09/10 Pieces of Oblivion

by , 10-12-2010 at 03:41 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
Note: I had some plans to meet up with Tigress for a dream in the world of Oblivion. I managed to achieve my WILD, but even though the WILD was successful, I didn't wake up enough after the WILD to make myself take notes… and consequently all I remember are fragments of the dream. I really have to stop telling myself that I'll remember my WILD later just because it was a WILD… sometimes that makes absolutely no difference at all.

A fragment of Tigress and me walking down the streets of Skingrad, a city in Cyradil, the world in the game of Oblivion. There were other people wandering around and talking to each other. I did notice that they seemed to have more of a purpose than in the video game Oblivion, they didn't seem to be repeating the same mundane things over and over again, either. I didn't pay too much attention to all of the people, though, Tigress and I were heading somewhere. We finally reached a building in Skingrad that I didn't remember ever seeing before.

The next fragment included Tigress and me inside a house that looked appropriate for one of the houses in Oblivion, we were using dream powers to design it to fit our needs. Tigress was getting a bit impatient, wanting to go out and shoot stuff, but I was saying if we set things up in the house properly we would be able to meet up there more easily next time. To that end, we made three bedrooms to aid us in using FA's to our advantage. A bedroom that looks like mine, one that looks like Tigress', then one that looks like Silver's room since Tigress will sometimes be sleeping there. Finally that was done, so I set up a few mirrors throughout the house that could be used as portals if we needed it. Tigress was still impatient to go shoot stuff, so I said we could go out and find some enemies.

The next part of the dream that I recall involved Tigress and me in Oblivion, we were making our way down a canyon of sorts, there were steep cliffs on both sides of us reaching into the sky, and the path we were on was pretty narrow and it was winding upward, getting ever closer to the top of the cliffs. There were enemies everywhere, both on the path and on the cliffs overhead. The ones overhead were firing projectiles at us including balls of flame, arrows, arrows on fire… and even some lighting. Tigress was taking all of them out one by one with rapidly fired arrows from her bow, she seemed to be firing them faster than it would take to aim… But I didn't spend too much time considering her skill with the bow, as I was in a fight, myself. I had my Witchblade sword formed, and I was engaged in battle with several of the daedra right there on the path, keeping them away from Tigress, who was firing her arrows from a bit farther behind me. She was effectively keeping the enemies above from hitting us with distance weapons while I was keeping the melee attacks away from her so she could continue focusing on her archery.

The last piece of the dream I remember had Tigress and me in a large round room with the sigil stone in the center of the room, there was a beam of energy flowing from the sigil stone, and it was keeping the Oblivion gate open. Once again we were fighting. I was using my sword against the last daedra between us and the sigil stone, while Tigress, who seemed to have an infinite number of arrows, was taking out the ones trying to approach from the outside ring of the room. I took out the last daedra between us and the sigil stone, and still more enemies were pouring into the room, even Tigress' speed wasn't keeping up. She called to me to grab the sigil stone, but I didn't really need to be told, I was already grabbing the stone. Then everything went dark briefly, followed by a flash of light, followed by Tigress and myself hanging in the air a couple hundred feet over the forest below… I could see Skingrad from there very well, not a bad view… and then we were falling, and then I woke.
    5. 08/07/10 Close Shut the Jaws of Oblivion

by , 08-09-2010 at 02:10 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
I opened a portal back to the biodome, to the location beside the koi pond, figuring I would check there again before moving on to my next goal.

I wasn't sure how much of the dream I had left, so I thought I had better extend the dream before it was too late. I focused on using Allura's method of time dilation, condensed the time on the clock in my mind's eye. I didn't notice much of a change, not really anything I could clearly identify, i thought maybe that was because I hadn't been losing the dream when I did it. With that done it was time to figure out what to do next.

I waited for a short time at the koi pond, but no one showed up, and then I thought it was time to continue to my next goal, which was to share an Oblivion dream with Tigress. As we had agreed upon earlier, I opened a portal while focusing on getting to the battle arena in Imperial City, Tamriel. A portal opened and I went through it, wondering If Tigress would be waiting for me on the other side or if I might just go ahead and have an Oblivion dream on my own if she wasn't. As I emerged into Imperial City I saw that I needn't have worried about it. I spotted Tigress right away… picking the lock on the chest containing the money from people's wagers? What did she want with money? I also spotted a guard heading our direction, he would surely see her. While I had no doubt that she could handle anything the guards could bring, I didn't really want to waste the whole dream fighting off stupid Imperial guards instead of looking for an Oblivion gate to close. So I went over to the guard and asked him a typical Oblivion type question, what was going on lately. He asked if I had been living under a rock, everyone was worried about the Oblivion gate that had opened up right in front of the city. He said it was just a matter of time before the daedra came through and attacked… Tigress came over to us and said she had heard about the Oblivion gate, and we were going to close it. The guard laughed and said if it was that easy the guard would have already done it.

So Tigress and I ignored the guard laughing and headed towards the front of the city, towards the main entrance. There were guards there, and they didn't want to let us leave, they said it wasn't safe out there due to the Oblivion gate being so close to the city, so no one was being allowed to enter or leave. Tigress and I just headed for another of the exits, that one was guarded, too, it looked like they had sealed the entire city off. This wasn't a problem, Tigress and I just climbed up the side of one of the buildings, we didn't really want to start flying from the ground where it might be noticed, and then we flew over the walls to the city and landed outside.

There was no wondering where the Oblivion gate was, the eerie red light and the wilted and dying foliage clearly indicated where the gate could be found. We followed the light from that, I saw some daedra out in the distance, the Flame Atronach were clearly seen against the darker landscape, but they didn't seem to have seen us. Before long Tigress and I found ourselves at the base of a massive Oblivion gate. There were several scamps milling around, they didn't even know what had hit them before they were dead. I had my Witchblade sword. Without any hesitation we went right into the Oblivion gate, leaving Tamriel behind.

On the other side of the gate was the planes of Oblivion, which look just like I remember seeing them in the video games, although the layout of things was a bit different. There were three primary towers that were situated around the Oblivion gate, and there was a beam of energy coming from the top of each tower and feeding into the Oblivion gate. I wondered if all of those had to be stopped in order to close the gate, or would getting rid of one of them set the gate off balance and force it to close? There wasn't a lot of time to consider that, Tigress and I were attacked by more daedra, this time it was a group of Flame Atronach around us, throwing fireballs at us, Tigress and I quickly dispatched the enemies with our swords, then we headed for the nearest tower.

The interior of the tower also looked familiar, there was a winding stairway going up the tower, then there was a pillar in the middle where I could see numerous daedra stationed there to watch the stairway up. Those were sitting ducks for Tigress, she picked them off one by one with her arrows perfectly hitting their mark, piercing the necks of the daedra for the instant kill. I went ahead of Tigress, so the daedra were noticing me first, and I was fighting the ones that were actually on the stairway, I found a key on one of them that I knew we would eventually need. We made our way to the top of the tower where we found a cage with a man in it, the man was very badly burned, and when I looked closer I saw he was already dead. There was a hole in the ceiliing with a glowing light visible through it. There were also doors at both sides of the room, I checked the one closest to us and found it was locked. Sure enough, the key I had gotten off of the daedra fit the lock and the door swung open… to reveal an ambush of daedra summoners, and they summoned an ambush of scamps, and soon we found we were completely surrounded. Time to fight, run my sword through a scamp, behead a daedra summoner, slice a daedra summoner open from his left shoulder to his right hip, hit another daedra summoner with a bolt of lightning as I ran my sword through another scamp… Tigress and I fought our way through the room, killing all of the daedra in our path.

Tigress and I exited through the far side and went up another ramp to the top chamber of the tower. Reaching the top of the tower proved to be actually rather anti-climatic, there weren't even more of the usual daedra enemies let alone something that would qualify as a boss. The sigil stone was there, however, and there was a beam of energy shooting out of one of the windows towards the Oblivion gate down below. Tigress reached over and grasped the sigil stone, pulling it out of its place. The beam of energy to the Oblivion gate ceased, but the other two remained, seeming to be unaffected. I was looking at the energy from the Oblivion gate when it started going unstable, but before I could say anything about it Tigress had already spoken, saying the gate was going to explode if the other beams weren't stopped. That could either successfully close the gate or it might blast a permanent hole in the dimensional fabric and give the daedra a permanent access to Tamriel. So to make sure it didn't lead to that, I flew towards one of the other towers while Tigress flew towards the other one.

I reached the tower rather quickly by flying, entering through the same opening the energy beam was coming out of. The daedra must have seen me flying towards the tower, as there were a bunch of them in the top chamber waiting for me. I didn't want to take the time for all of them, however, the gate was getting more unstable all the time, so I used Enter Sandman in the room, the spiral pulled all of the daedra into it and then exploded, destroying the daedra in a large blast of dark and light flames. I hurried in and grabbed the sigil stone, causing the stream of energy from it to cease. I looked out of the tower at the Oblivion gate just in time to see the other beam also cease, and now the gate collapsed. I wondered if this gate wasn't so nice as to deposit people from Tamriel back in Tamriel, not that it would be a problem for Tigress and me, but it could be annoying for anyone trying to fight the daedra… A wave of energy came from the gate and washed over everything, a blinding light, and then Tigress and I were both in mid air… but for some reason we lowered to the ground slowly and landed gently on the ground. Nothing was left of the Oblivion gate but a hole in the ground, and I could see a lot of amazed Imperial guards standing around staring at us. I was going to say something to Tigress, but she disappeared. My time to go, too. I opened a portal back to the koi pond, not sure how much longer the dream would last, I just didn't want to try to explain things to the guards. I got back in time to take one more look to see if anyone was waiting for me at the koi pond before I woke.
