      new method?

been working on lucid dreaming n I can say its been months! I tried all methods n when I didn get the results I expected I became hopeless tbh. Stopped doing reality checks n became too lazy to write down dreams.
When I stopped doing all , I had my first REAL lucid dream.
What If it's a new method? Keep doing reality checks for weeks (it's ok if u experiment with other techniques) n then stop doing them n u'll see them in ur dreams.
I've heard dad having nightmares of his job after his retirement years ago. So it means or can mean if u make reality checks a habit n then retire from doing em for some days ull dream them? Dunno. It worked for me n I'm not the only one on earth. Surely someone can do this n see if it works?

Congratulations on your lucid! This is a phenomenon that happens to many people who are still learning. They try really hard to lucid dream and only get success once they stop trying. Do not stop doing reality checks or dream journaling though. Taking a break doesn't cause you to lucid dream. Some aspect of your practice was wrong and once you stopped practicing that no longer held you back. Most likely you were trying to hard to lucid dream and the stress from that burned you out. Having a positive, relaxed mindset towards lucid dreaming is important. If you put a lot of pressure to get lucid fast it will only make things harder. Understand that with time you will have lucid dreams more often if you keep up your practice. Always be proud of the progress you have already made no matter what level you are at.

      I agree with madMonkey.

The best state of mind for getting a lucid dream is not wanting it hard, but knowing you can have one. While we are practicing, sometimes we try too hard and that can be frustrating with thoughts "why can't I?". But as soon as we stop trying too hard, there is no more pressure, all the training pays off and we often get a lucid dream.

So what worked was all the training and practice you did. If you stop training, you still may get a lucid or two as a residual success, but then you will need to practice and dream journal again. Just remember to have a more relaxed state of mind "I am a lucid dreamer" without trying too hard and getting frustrated.
