      Falling asleep consciously

Hello! I'm new to lucid dreaming and I don't think I've ever had a real lucid dream before. What happens is when I fall asleep intending to lucid dream, my body falls asleep but yet I'm aware that I had fallen asleep. Is this what's known as 'WILD'? As this is happening I usually feel some kind of odd pain.. like my muscles contracting and I can hear myself saying "aaaahhh" from the pain in real life but yet I'm still in some sort of weird.... lifeless dream that I don't have much control of. I've also experienced this same thing when I'm already asleep but perform a reality check and realize I'm dreaming. Wish I knew what was going on!!!

      Hello Zendaia! Welcome to DV!

You say, you don't think you had a lucid dream before but then:

I've also experienced this same thing when I'm already asleep but perform a reality check and realize I'm dreaming
A lucid dream is a dream where you know that you are dreaming, so this is a lucid dream! And not just because you RCed, but because you knew it was a dream.

What you are describing sounds like you might be going through a WILD way of inducing a lucid dream. I am not sure if it is something you intentionally do or it is accidental (sometimes these can just happen more easily with some people). The sensations you have may be related to your body falling asleep.

You can read more about different sensations when wilding here:

It looks like you are also doing a nice daily practice and using RCs already, keep it up. Here's more on different induction techniques.
